An incredible 187 Day 1b entries continued to build the Rungood Series Tulsa $600 Main Event prizepool well over its $100,000 guarantee, with Preston Roberts and Yahya Aamer each bagging 483,000 chips.

In total, five players bagged over 400,000, but the overall chip lead heading into Sunday remains with Day 1a chip leader Marsha Adams and her stack of 596,000 chips.

Day 1b Action

While Day 1a wrapped up rather quickly in the middle of level 13, the second of three flights needed to go into level 15, with hand-for-hand play ending play with eight minutes remaining in the level.

It was at that point that Roberts eliminated Dustin Messner on the bubble when Messner was forced all in on the big blind after losing a significant pot to RunGood ambassador Kris Burchfield who advanced to Day 2 as a result.

It was certainly an eventful day of play with Poker Hall of Famer Scotty Nguyen making an appearance to play in the flight. Unfortunately for the “Prince of Poker”, his time in the tournament was short-lived as he never built his stack much above its starting point and he was eliminated by Clayton Soliz.

Among the other notables to bust in this flight were popular poker commentator and recent emerging tournament crusher Jeff Platt who fell near the bubble.

One Last Chance to Make it to the Dance

Players have one final chance to advance to Day 2 in Saturday’s evening flight. After that, the three groups of surviving players from each flight will converge for Sunday’s Day 2 at noon local time.

PokerNews will have all the action until a champion is crowned Sunday at the incredible Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Tulsa.

Messner Bubbles; Final 24 Bag Up

Level 15 : Blinds 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante
Dustin Messner
Dustin Messner

After losing most of his stack when he doubled up Kris Burchfield with ace-queen against Burchfield's ace-king, Dustin Messner was all in in the big blind versus Josh Bozarth in the small blind, Raymond Beck in middle position, and Preston Roberts in late position.

On the {6-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{9-Spades} flop, action was checked to Roberts who bet 21,000. Only Bozarth called.

The turn brought the {j-Hearts} and both players checked.

They also checked the {a-Clubs} river and the hands were revealed.

Bozarth showed {8-Spades}{8-Hearts} for a losing pair of eights, Roberts showed {a-Hearts}{6-Clubs} for two pair and Messner showed {7-Hearts}{5-Clubs} for a losing pair of fives which sent him to the rail on the bubble and the remaining 24 players on to Day 2.

Stay tuned for complete chip counts and a recap of the Day 1b action.

Platt Eliminated by Messner

Level 13 : Blinds 3,000/5,000, 5,000 ante
Jeff Platt
Jeff Platt

Jeff Platt's stack was just over 10 big blinds when Dustin Messner moved all in from early position for 42,000.

Platt called, leaving himself just 12,000 if he couldn't eliminate Messner. The rest of the table folded and Platt was in a race.

Dustin Messner: {6-Hearts}{6-Spades}
Jeff Platt: {k-Diamonds}{j-Spades}

The board came {q-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}, bringing no help to Platt and giving Messner the double-up.

Platt got his last 12,000 in shortly after with {a-Diamonds}{2-Spades} and couldn't hold against Henry Stevens' {k-Spades}{10-Diamonds}, with Stevens pairing his ten on the flop to send the popular poker commentator off to dinner before he takes his shot in flight 1c later this evening.

Limited Action For Nguyen

Level 10 : Blinds 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante
Scotty Nguyen
Scotty Nguyen

Since entering before the close of late registration, Scotty Nguyen has been unable to build much of a stack.

Case in point a recent hand where an opponent raised to 4,000 preflop in middle position and the Poker Hall of Famer three-bet to 10,000 from late position.

Nguyen's opponent folded, sending the small pot to the "Prince of Poker" whose stack is now back over its starting point.

Arnold Crushing Again

Level 7 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
Jack Arnold
Jack Arnold

Jack Arnold was one of the last players to fall in Day 1a, but he's building himself another big stack in Day 1b.

in a recent pot, his opponent jammed a bit under 45,000 from the small blind on a turn board of {9-Spades}{q-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}{4-Clubs} and got snapped by Arnold on the button.

The opponent held {j-Hearts}{9-Diamonds} for two pair, while Arnold had flopped a straight with {10-Hearts}{8-Clubs}. The {2-Spades} on the river changed nothing and Arnold received a big boost to his already healthy stack.

Gabriel Gets Lucky To Soar into Six Figures

Level 2 : Blinds 200/300, 300 ante
Marlon Gabriel
Marlon Gabriel

With several thousand in the middle already on a flop of {a-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}, Marlon Gabriel was in early position and decided to gamble for over 33,000 in a three-way all-in.

He was way behind his opponents though, including the big blind who he had slightly covered, but he was at risk against Andy Cruz in middle position.

Big Blind: {q-Spades}{q-Hearts}
Marlon Gabriel: {k-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}
Andy Cruz: {a-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}

Gabriel would need his gutshot to come in or make running diamonds versus the big blind's set of queens and Cruz's top two pair.

The turn {6-Diamonds} brought Gabriel some help with the flush draw, then the {10-Hearts} hit the river sending the chips sailing toward Gabriel who hit his draw to scoop the massive pot and leave Cruz short.

Stewart Wins Big Pot With Set Over Set

Level 2 : Blinds 200/300, 300 ante
Donna Stewart
Donna Stewart

What started as a small enough pot grew huge with a three-way all-in on the flop that saw Donna Stewart nearly triple her starting stack.

After a bet from Phillip Brazel in early position on the {5-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{k-Hearts} board, Stewart raised to 11,000 in late position, and then Chip Petit moved all in from the button for a bit over 20,000. Brazel moved all in for more as did Stewart who was covered by Brazel.

Chip Petit: {a-Hearts}{10-Hearts}
Donna Stewart: {k-Spades}{k-Diamonds}
Phillip Brazel: {5-Diamonds}{5-Spades}

Stewart was in great shape with a set of kings versus Brazel's set of fives. Petit would need a non-pairing heart to make his nut flush draw.

The turn came with the {6-Diamonds} and the river brought the {2-Spades}, keeping Stewart's set of kings ahead for a pot that eliminated Petit and left Brazel short.

Pair of Opening Flights on Deck Saturday for RGPS Tulsa Main Event

RGPS Tulsa
RGPS Tulsa

After 130 entries filled the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Tulsa tournament area Friday night for Day 1a, the RunGood Series Tulsa $600 Main Event $100,000 guarantee is now guaranteed to be shattered on Saturday.

Saturday will see two more Day 1’s, with the opener at noon local time and the event's third and final flight beginning at 6 p.m. If a player busts the noon Day 1b flight, they will be able to enter Day 1c as well.

The number that players Saturday will be chasing is the 596,000 chips gathered by Marsha Adams, who bagged the biggest stack Friday night through 13 levels of play before the flight reached its 12.5 percent payout mark.

Play on Saturday will also be played down to that point with those players making the money and advancing on to Day 2 on Sunday at noon.

Just as it was in Day 1a, players will begin their journey with 30,000 chips at blinds of 100/200 with a 200 big blind ante. Registration will be open until the start of level 9, with unlimited reentry also available to that point in each flight. Players will receive 15-minute breaks after levels four and eight, then a 10-minute break every four levels after.

Play will continue with 30-minute levels until the field reaches that 12.5 percent threshold where they will then bag for Day 2. Entrants who play Day 1b may also play Day 1c even if they find a bag but must forfeit their shortest stack if they bag twice. They would however be awarded a second min-cash should they survive both flights.

Be sure to stick with PokerNews all day for coverage of both flights, and then again tomorrow for the thrilling conclusion from the beautiful Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Tulsa.
