A field of 195 entries took their shot at advancing to Sunday’s Day 2, and the $300k guarantee was hit an hour before registration closed. Play wrapped up at the end of level 14 as scheduled, with just under 18% of the field remaining.

Other notables to make it to Day 2 include RGPS Ambassadors Ray Henson (214,00), David Tuchman (147,000), and Jamie Kerstetter (107,000) as well as Brian Frenzel (155,000), and two-time WSOP bracelet winner Yuval Bronshtein (71,000).

Players that unfortunately did not find a bag were RGPS Ambassadors Kris Burchfield and Jonathan Gaviao, as well as Joey Garguilo.

The final of the three opening flights will take place Friday, with a starting time at noon. Players who failed to advance Thursday and Friday will have another shot at making it to Sunday’s final day of play, and even those who did make it through Day 1ab can hop in again in hopes of accumulating a bigger stack to take into Sunday instead of their total from this flight.

Stay tuned to PokerNews for our continuing coverage of the event until a champion is crowned on Sunday at the action-packed bestbet Jacksonville!

Bronshtein Running Hot

Level 11 : Blinds 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante
Yuval Bronshtein
Yuval Bronshtein

Faced with an open to 4,000, Yuval Bronshtein three-bet to 12,500, but then Brad Teal shoved all in for more. Action folded back to Bronshtein who snap-called, putting Teal at risk of elimination.

Brad Teal: {a-Clubs}{5-Clubs}
Yuval Bronshtein: {q-Clubs}{q-Hearts}

"Man, you keep getting these monsters," someone at the table commented to Bronshtein.

"I mean, I still might lose, but yes it is a good hand," Bronshtein replied.

The board on the turn read {4-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{5-Spades}{2-Clubs} to give him a good sweat, as any ace, three, or five could now save Teal. Unfortunately for him , the river was the {7-Spades} and teal was sent to the rail as the two-time WSOP Bracelet winner was pushed the pot.

Set Over Set Ends Well for Frenzel

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
Brian Frenzel
Brian Frenzel

PokerNews missed the opening action, but walked up on the scene as Brian Frenzel and Shane Barnard were all in preflop, with Barnard at risk.

Shane Barnard: {j-Diamonds}{j-Spades}
Brian Frenzel: {k-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}

The flop came out a disgusting {2-Hearts}{j-Clubs}{k-Hearts} to give both players a set, with Frenzel having the upper hand. Tablemate Joey Gargiulo admitted to folding {a-Hearts}{j-Hearts} which meant Barnard was drawing stone dead.

The board completed with the meaningless {8-Clubs}{a-Clubs} to secure Frenzel's victory in the big pot and sent Barnard to the rail. Meanwhile, although he was left with a short stack, Gargiulo was patting himself on the back for making the fold preflop.

Big River Raise from Montes

Level 5 : Blinds 300/500, 500 ante
Jose Montes
Jose Montes

Jose Montes opened to 1,100 from the cutoff and was called by John Singer in the small blind and Jared Reinstein in the big blind.

The flop came out {10-Diamonds}{k-Spades}{6-Diamonds} and the blinds checked to Montes who continued for 1,500 and was called by both opponents.

On the turn {4-Diamonds}, all players decided to check through to the river {4-Spades}, which saw Singer lead out for 2,300. Reinstein made the call and then the action was on Montes, who then raised it up to 15,000 which produced folds from both players to award him the pot.

Welcome to Day 1b of the RunGood Poker Series Jacksonville $1,200 Main Event. Today’s flight is the second of three opening days of the tournament, and if yesterday’s action is an indicator of what’s to come, bestbet Jacksonville is in for another incredible day of poker.

Josh Wang bagged the biggest stack of Day 1a, earning 689,000 chips to take into Sunday’s Day 2 after winning a massive pot on the last hand of the night when he called Peter Miller’s all-in on the river with the bottom end of a four-liner straight vs Millers single pair, which sent Miller to the rail.

There were 103 total entrants in yesterday's Day 1a with 15 of those finding bags but the play ended just right outside of the money bubble.

Day 1b will get cards in the air at 12:00 noon local time with 14 40-minute levels scheduled, however, it is possible to end earlier if 12.5% of the field is reached, at which point play will be stopped.

Players will start their day with 30,000 chips at opening blinds of 100/200 with no big blind ante until the start of level 2. Registration will remain open until the start of Level 10 which will be approximately 7:30 p.m. and re-entries are unlimited.

Players will have a 15-minute break after every third level, with a 60-minute dinner break at the end of Level 9.

The tournament has a $300,000 guarantee and after 103 entries on Day 1a, this tournament is sure to smash the expected prize pool.

Players who survive Day 1b with a short stack will have the opportunity to play in Day 1c in hopes of accumulating a bigger stack to take to Day 2 instead.

Be sure to stay with PokerNews for live reporting from each day of action until the first-ever RGPS Jacksonville Main Event champion is crowned.
