After an open and several callers, Eric Douglas put in a big three-bet followed by an all-in from Byron Leiva.
The action then folded around to Douglas who made the call, putting Leiva at risk.
Byron Leiva: A♥4♣
Eric Douglas: 6♠6♦
Douglas was sitting pretty comfortably with his pocket pair, but as all poker players know, it's always a sweat as the flop came out 10♣3♥5♦ to give Leiva extra outs to a straight. The turn 9♦ did not do it and the J♣ on the river was a welcome card for Douglas as it meant his sixes held to claim the pot, sending Leiva to the rail.

Shane Fuller opened to 10,000 from early postion but was then three-bet to 30,000 from Sergii Borysevych in the cutoff. After action folded back around to him, Fuller made the call to see a flop of A♦Q♠Q♦ and quickly checked.
Borysevych then continued for 20,000 and Fuller's hand promptly found the muck to award him the pot, bringing his stack over 300,000.
Fuller then managed to win a big pot the following hand to put him close to 300,000 as well.

On a three-way flop of J♠7♦5♣, Spencer Sanchez checked to Shane Sparks who bet 30,000 which produced a fold from Sergii Borysevych and a call from Sanchez.
On the turn 10♦, both players then decided to slow down and checked to the 3♣ on the river. Sanchez then took the lead and bet out 55,000 but was quickly called by Sparks who then tabled Q♦Q♥. This was evidently good enough as Sanchez tapped the table and tossed his cards into the muck.

With 19 players remaining, they are now on the money bubble and hand-for-hand play has been initiated.
The action was picked up as a player was all in preflop against Shane Fuller and Shane Sparks who still had action but checked it through the board of Q♠10♠4♣8♣5♣.
When the floor instructed them to proceed, the cards were flipped over:
At-risk player: K♣9♠
Shane Sparks: J♠3♠
Shane Fuller: 5♠3♥
Much to the agony of the at-risk player, Fuller managed to make a pair of fives on the river to win the pot, eliminating the player on the stone bubble. Play for the evening has now stopped as the remaining players have begun the bagging process.
Stay tuned as the final chip tallies and a Day 1a recap will be posted shortly.
