A total of 83 runners made their way to bestbet Jacksonville with their eyes on a bag. However, after 13 levels of play, just 11 have punched their ticket to Sunday’s Day 2. They’re all fighting for a piece of the $300,000 guarantee, a bestbet trophy, and a coveted RGPS ring.

Leading the way from Day 1a is Bradley Beetz who used a late surge to bag an impressive 535,000.

Day 1a Highlights

Just 15 players were seated at the starting bell, but the tables quickly filled up and chips were flying from the very first hand.

Several notable players hopped into the action early, including Terakun Karnchanakphan, RunGood ambassadors Maggie Fox, Kristopher Burchfield, and Heather Alcorn, and 2023 RGPS Jacksonville champion Antwan Prince.

However, the most notable player to take their seat was none other than Ali Imsirovic. The high-stakes crusher with a checkered past got seated at the end of Level 3 and quickly built up a stack, including an impressive triple barrel bluff in a pot of almost 200 big blinds.

Imsirovic would enter the dinner break as the largest stack in the room. However, upon returning from dinner Imsirovic was nowhere to be seen and his chips were taken out of play. For the full story, please check out this article.

The field dwindled quickly as the bubble loomed around the end of Level 12, after Bradley Beetz scored a massive double knockout with top boat.

Shortly into Level 13 with the blinds at 2,000/3,000, hand-for-hand play began. After 8 hands, Shannon Scalice busted on the stone bubble after jamming pocket sevens into the top set of Shane Scorza.

Day 1a wrapped up with 10 minutes left in Level 13. The tournament will offer two more opening flights on Friday and Saturday, both at 12 p.m. local time. All surviving players will return on Sunday, May 4 at 12 p.m. to play down to a winner in the Day 2.

After an early position open to 2,500 and two flats, Maggie Fox jammed for around 19,000 from the small blind and Danielle Chaput isolated in the cutoff.

Maggie Fox: 99 All in
Danielle Chaput: 1010

Fox was in rough shape with her dominated pair on the 642 flop until the 9 turn vaulted her into the lead with top set. However, the dealer peeled the 10 on the river as the table winced at the painful runout.
