When we said that there are mostly local Japanese players in the field, we definitely didn't miss comedian and commentary aficionado Joe "Stapes" Stapleton, as he walked into the tournament area a few minutes after the start. Stapleton appears to be the only foreigner involved in the action so far and will try to turn his stack of 30,000 into much more throughout 15 levels of play on Day 1a.
He has also become a "fan favourite" of sorts as many of the local players wanted to have their picture taken with Stapleton in the first two tournament days.
