Long Weekend Continues with Final Two Flights of $800 RGPS Kentucky Main Event

The Barrel Social Club
The Barrel Social Club

Sundays are usually for trophies, but today brings two more chances to claim a piece of what is sure to be a massive prize pool in the first-ever RGPS Golden Expedition $800 Main Event.

The first four starting flights have attracted 352 entries at The Barrel Social Club, and the $250,000 guaranteed prize pool will be passes before cards are in the air today at 11:15 a.m. local time. Just 33 players have qualified for Day 2 so far, and the final group of survivors will be determined tonight.

The final flight will begin at 4:15 p.m. and the tournament features unlimited reentries for the first eight levels of each day. Players can participate in all six flights, with unlimited reentry along the way.

Leading the way through the first two days of action is David Yue, who dominated Day 1d to finish with 517,000 to become the first player of the week to bag more than half a million chips. Next up is Billy Vandergriff, who set the pace on Day 1b to collect 482,000. Eric Cunningham (412,000) led the largest flight so far by topping Day 1c, while the opening flight was led by David Collins (388,000).

Today's field will include RunGood Ambassador Greg Raymer, who was unable to earn a spot in the money to this point. Raymer will be looking to join fellow ambassadors Preston McEwen (269,000), Heather Alcorn (101,000) and Craig Welko (249,000) in the field for Day 2.

New participants will begin with 30,000 chips, with blinds starting at 100/200 along with a 200 big blind ante. Levels will be 30 minutes long for the first four hours of play, before lengthening to 40 minutes once late registration closes at the outset of Level 9.

Players will see 15-minute breaks after every two hours, and those that have already bagged can qualify for Day 2 more than once. In that case, the largest stack will carry forward to the Labor Day finale with any additional bags earning a minimum payout.

Only the top 12.5% of the each field will advance in the money, returning on Monday, September 7 to battle for the RGPS ring.
