Gmerek Spikes a Set and Gets the Max
Level 14
: Blinds 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante
A player from under the gun raised to 15,000, and Liam Schmidt called from middle position, and Kris Gmerek four-bet to 40,000 from the cutoff. The under the gun player called, and Schmidt called.
The flop came Q♣10♥5♠. The under the gun player shoved, covering both opponents. Schmidt folded before Gmerek called with his remaining 118,000 in chips, putting himself at risk.
Kris Gmerek: 10♦10♣
Opponent: K♠Q♥
The under the gun player had top pair, but needed to catch a running straight or full house to best Gmerek's set of tens. Gmerek had his opponent drawing dead by the turn as the rest of the board ran out 4♥3♠, securing a massive double for Gmerek.
