Tatarintsev Running Hot Again in San Diego
Maksim Tatarintsev is back in the field this week at Jamul Casino Resort, aiming to achieve a rare RunGood Poker Series feat. Back in 2024, Tatarintsev claimed victory in his first live tournament, earning $37,250 and a RGPS ring in the RunGood Resort San Diego $600 Main Event.
Last November, Tatarintsev did the improbable and won again to claim another ring along with $38,890 in the RGPS Grand Prix San Diego $600 Main Event.
Looking for a three-peat this weekend, Tatarintsev has already been running hot this week at the RGPS Passport stop including a fourth-place finish in the $300 PokerNews PowerStack event.
"I'm running good," the defending champion told PokerNews during a break in play. "I already have final table today, two final tables yesterday. So I mean, I'm still running good."
Tatarintsev credits a difficult final table in the PokerNews Powerstack event to help prepare him for another deep run in the Main Event. He has not only started playing more locally in San Diego, but has taken his game to new locations as well.
"I started some daily tournaments here in San Diego, I was in Vegas for the first time in December three months ago. I will come to the WSOP soon, so yeah, I mean it's helped me to play more."
"I'm still not a full-time player, so I'm just playing for fun, have a good base, and that's it."
Tatarintsev has built a solid stack to begin the first flight of the weekend, and the rest of the field is on notice.
