Kelley Enjoying the Chase for RunGood Ring #2
Among the familiar faces in the field on Day 1a was RGPS ring winner Justin Kelley. The Mississippi local built up a stack before the end of late registration, and is enjoying the chance to play close to home.
"I travel with Cody Stanford and Walker Miskelly," Kelley told PokerNews during a break in play. "It's great to be here because we go to a lot of stops at a lot of places, but we're all from middle Mississippi, so this is basically our home turf. So we know the regular floor people, and then of course we know the RunGood team and everybody, and it's just nice to be close to home."
Kelley lives about two hours south of Tunica, and is searching for a second career ring this week. His first came back in 2023, in the RGPS Road Trip Missouri $400 DeepStack event where he earned $23,638.
"I started the day with 4.5 big blinds, and I got it in the first hand with two eights against ace-ten, and he flopped an ace and I rivered an eight and I never looked back."
Kelley says he has always enjoyed playing RunGood events, and this week has been no different.
"I think they do a great job, I like their events. It's a smaller schedule normally, but they're run with great structure. So it's not stretched out 14-15 days, and you don't get tired. I really like to support them, I think that they do a great job."
