Big Stacks Booming At Table 7

Level 2 : 100/100, 100 ante
Matt Sundberg
Matt Sundberg

Alain Candales Falcon raised to 400 from middle position, and 2019 WSOP Seniors Bracelet winner Howard Mash three-bet to 2,000 next to act. Action folded back to Falcon, who called.

Falcon checked the {9-Spades}{3-Spades}{a-Hearts} flop over to Mash, who bet 1,400. Falcon folded.

"On the board, let's go!" Mash said with a grin.

Despite the setback, Falcon still wields a massive stack for the early stage of the tournament, and fellow tablemate Matt Sundberg has already accumulated a stack of nearly three times starting stack under an hour into the day's play.

Contreras Rockets Out Front

Level 2 : 100/100, 100 ante

Eric Rivera had 1,700 in front of him from the hijack, and was contemplating a raise from Jose Del Cid Contreras in the big blind to 4,100.

"Alright, I'm all in," Rivera said before jamming for 17,000. Contreras snap-called.

"You got anything?" Rivera asked Contreras, who said, "Yeah. Bullets."

Eric Rivera: {j-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}
Jose Del Cid Contreras: {a-Clubs}{a-Spades}

Contreras held on the {q-Clubs}{q-Hearts}{9-Spades} flop, but Rivera picked up a gutshot on the {k-Spades} turn. No help would arrive on the {3-Spades} river, however, and Rivera said "I'll be back!" before heading back to the registration desk.

Hawkins Starts Off Strong

Level 1 : 100/100, 0 ante
Maurice Hawkins in previous action
Maurice Hawkins in previous action

With a {k-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}{8-Diamonds} flop on the felt, action checked to 14-time WSOP Circuit Ring winner Maurice Hawkins on the button. Hawkins threw a bet of 1,400 into the pot of 2,000, and the big blind called, while the hijack folded.

Action checked down on the {6-Diamonds} turn and {7-Hearts} river, and the big blind rolled over {a-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}. Hawkins turned up {8-Clubs}{5-Clubs} for a pair of eights, and took down the pot. Hawkins, who sits atop the all-time WSOP Circuit Ring list, is looking to add a RunGood Poker Series title to his already expansive trophy room, and has already chipped up nicely in the first level.

Strohm Going For Another Big Cash

Level 1 : 100/100, 0 ante
Paul Strohm at RGPS Horseshoe Council Bluffs
Paul Strohm at RGPS Horseshoe Council Bluffs

Paul Strohm made his entrance just before the tournament kicked off today, and Strohm is looking for a second straight RunGood Poker Series deep run, after being part of the 11-way chop at the previous RunGood Poker Series event at Horseshoe Council Bluffs. Strohm eventually finished 10th, but earned a healthy $26,058 payday for his efforts.

In a recent hand, a player in the big blind fired 3,000 into a pot of 4,000 on a {q-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}{q-Spades} board, and Strohm made the call on the button.

The big blind bet 7,000 on the {5-Diamonds} river, and Strohm went into the tank for a minute before settling on a fold. Despite the setback, Strohm still sits near starting stack.
