Pretty Cool Board For McCool

Level 10 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante

A player checked a {7-Spades}{10-Clubs}{4-Spades}{4-Clubs}{6-Diamonds} board from middle position, and Matt McCool bet 7,000 from the cutoff into a pot of around 10,000. The button jammed with a covering stack, and the middle-position player called off his last 9,500.

"Call!" McCool said confidently after, tabling {10-Spades}{10-Hearts} for top full house. The button had hit an inferior straight on the river with {9-Hearts}{8-Hearts}, and paid another 9,400 to McCool, while the middle-position player could only muster {k-Hearts}{7-Hearts} and was eliminated.

Additional Level Added to Play

Level 10 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante

The tournament director has announced that an additional 30-minutes of play will be added to the end of the night. A ten-minute break will occur after Level 12, and then the first thirty-minutes of Level 13 will take place before play ends for the evening.

Reget Takes One With Aces-Up

Level 10 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante

Nick Reget checked an {8-Spades}{a-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{q-Hearts} board from under the gun, and Richard Toomer bet 5,000 from the cutoff. Reget flicked in a chip for a call.

Both players checked the {8-Diamonds} river, and Toomer flashed {5-}{5-}. Reget had that beat with {a-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}, and took down the pot.

Garles Can't Fold Top Two

Level 11 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante
Paul Strohm
Paul Strohm

Tim Garles was pondering an all in for 45,000 from Paul Strohm on a {j-Hearts}{q-Spades}{9-Clubs}{2-Hearts} board, and Garles took some time to think about his decision.

"Pretty lucky, if you flopped a straight," Garles said to Strohm while looking at the 50,000 already in the pot.

"Top set any good?" Garles asked Strohm, to little response.

A minute went by, then Garles said, "I haven't been coolered yet. This could be it." A few moments later, Garles stuck in a call.

Paul Strohm: {k-Hearts}{10-Hearts}
Tim Garles: {q-Hearts}{j-Clubs}

Garles had indeed been coolered, and Strohm's straight proved best after the {4-Clubs} river failed to fill up Garles.

Sanford Gets the Right One Out

Level 11 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante

A player was all in for 33,000 from the big blind with a {9-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}{k-Spades}{j-Diamonds} board on the felt, and George Sanford jammed over the top for 90,000 from middle position. Kevin Berthelsen went deep into the tank from the cutoff, before eventually folding.

Opponent: {q-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}
George Sanford: {a-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}

"You got my out" the big blind told Sanford. Sanford was a lock to win the hand, but it was Berthelsen who looked miffed when the {k-Hearts} fell on the river.

"Would you have won that?" Sanford asked Berthelsen, who responded, "Yep."

Sanford couldn't help himself and teased Berthelsen with a "Well, good fold then!" and a grin.

Bob Waters
Bob Waters

Bob Waters bet 25,000 from the big blind on a {9-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{7-Spades} board, then called off his last 22,000 when the player under the gun jammed.

Bob Waters: {9-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}
Opponent: {j-Spades}{j-Hearts}

Waters found two pair on the turn to take the lead over the overpair of the under-the-gun player, and held on the {6-Hearts} river to earn the double.
