Seminole Hard Rock

For the next two weeks, the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Hollywood will play host to the Seminole Hard Rock May Deep Stack Poker Series. The series is comprised of three different tournaments at varying price points, all of which will be live reported here on PokerNews.

It starts today with the $350 buy-in Deep Stack NLH (Re-Entry) $150,000 GTD, which will run May 16-20. Players will start with 30,000 in chips and play 40-minute levels through Level 14. Levels 15-26 will last 60 minutes each with Levels 27+ will switch to 90 minutes. Heads-up play will revert to 40-minute levels.

The plan for the Day 1 flights is to play through Level 14.

Late registration and unlimited re-entries will be allowed until the start of Day 2. Players may not bag and play a subsequent flight. Players may forfeit their stack to Re-Enter or participate in subsequent starting day.

The winner of the tournament will also receive an added $1,650 Main Event seat.

In 2018, Dion Jagroo topped a 1,045-entry field to win the Deep Stack for $66,000. The year before that, Ben Lindemulder won it outright for $67,232 after navigating a field of 1,029 runners. Back in 2016, it was Steve McKoy coming out on top of a 1,075-entry field to win the title and accompanying $49,755 first-place prize.

Here's a look at the structure for today.

Last year, this very event attracted 1,045 entrants over three starting flights and created a $307,900 prize pool. Dion Jagroo dominated the final table to capture the title after striking a heads-up deal, good for $66,000 plus a $1,650 Deepest Stack seat.

Jagroo struck a deal with his good friend Daniel Silva, who locked up $43,554.

“This is literally something we both dreamed about,” Jagroo said after winning last year. “Something we always thought about.”

“It’s crazy,” Silva laughed as they celebrated.

Get to Know WSOP Bracelet Winner Jacquelyn Scott

Level 2 : 100/100, 100 ante

Jacquelyn Scott winning her gold bracelet.

Jacquelyn Scott likes to have fun at the poker table.

Last month she was over in Europe competing in the EPT Monte Carlo, eventually finishing sixth in the €1,100 French National Championship for $47,691.

While she's a familiar face here at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, what Scott is best known for is topping a field of 795 runners to win the 2015 World Series of Poker $1,000 Ladies Event for a career-high $153,876 and a coveted gold bracelet.

“Oh, I always have fun. Usually when I come to a poker tournament, and the guys don’t know me, they don’t know what to expect," Scott recently told PokerNews in a feature interview. "And then when they see my sense of humor they go, ‘I really like you, you’re funny,’ and I go ‘thanks!’”

Originally from Michigan, Scott now lives in Fort Lauderdale where she got her start in poker.

“I started playing with a couple of guys in my office, and we’d go to the Hard Rock and I just got very intrigued by it and decided, I can do this… I got totally into it and then I took it very seriously. So I’ve always had to balance my career with poker, because my real estate business comes first.”

We'll be keeping an eye on Scott to see if she can replicate her Monte Carlo success by making a deep run here at the 2019 Seminole Hard Rock May Deep Stack Poker Series.

Level 2 : 100/100, 100 ante
Ariel Quintana
Ariel Quintana

Ariel Quintana, who hails from Hialeah, Florida, is in action today and looking to add to his $115,532 in lifetime earnings. That total includes a career-best $19,145 for finishing fourth in the 2016 Seminole Hard Rock Escalator Series $250 NLH event.

Other highlights on his poker résumé include finishing runner-up to Ronald Levy in the 2017 World Series of Poker Circuit Seminole Hard Rock Event #2: $365 NLH for $13,126, third in the 2015 Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open Event #25: $150 NLH for $8,321, and fifth in the 2015 Holiday DeepStack $250 NLH for $4,142.

According to his HendonMob profile, Quintana has one victory dating back to July 2016, which is when he took down the 2016 Florida State Poker Championships Event #6: $100 Green Chip Bounty Turbo for $1,765.

Only time will tell if Quintana can add to his total here at the 2019 Seminole Hard Rock May Deep Stack Poker Series.

A Bad Beat Flop in Monster Hand

Level 3 : 100/200, 200 ante
Russell Williams
Russell Williams

The preflop action escaped us but we do know it blew up between three players. It resulted in both Carlos Revilla and Russell Williams being all in, the latter for 27,600, and the third player folding after investing roughly 8,000.

Williams: {10-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}
Revilla: {a-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}

Revilla had the goods and Williams was looking to get lucky. He did exactly that as the flop came down {a-Clubs}{10-Spades}{10-Hearts} to give him quads!

However, he wasn't out of the woods as Revilla flopped aces full, meaning the case ace would give him better quads. The {6-Spades} turn wasn't what he was looking for and neither was the {j-Clubs} river.

Williams shipped the double while the rest of the table and nearby onlookers expressed their disbelief of the cooler flop.

Rodriguez Building Heaps

Level 5 : 200/400, 400 ante
Carlo Rodrigues
Carlo Rodrigues

On a flop of {j-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{9-Hearts}, Deborah Muha and another player got their stacks all in against Carlo Rodriguez, who was sitting with a big pile of chips.

Muha: {a-Spades}{j-Spades}
Rodriguez: {4-Hearts}{5-Hearts}
Opponent: {k-Spades}{k-Clubs}

Rodriguez had a flush draw and he didn't waste any time in completing it as the dealer burned and turned the {3-Hearts}. the {q-Hearts} river put a flush on board but Rodriguez's was best to send to opponents to the rail.

Muha immediately headed to the registration desk to re-enter the tournament.

McCaigue Adds to His Big Stack

Level 8 : 400/800, 800 ante
Ryan McCaigue
Ryan McCaigue

Jason Atherley opened for 2,200 from middle position and the player in the hijack called. The button did the same and then chip leader Ryan McCaigue three-bet to 12,500 from the small blind.

Atherley folded, the player in the hijack called off for approximately 10,000, and the button got out of the way.

McCaigue: {j-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}
Hijack: {j-Spades}{10-Clubs}

McCaigue was dominated but he had been running hot on Day 1a. That heater continued when the flop came down {7-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{a-Clubs} to give him the lead with a pair of sevens.

Neither the {k-Hearts} turn nor {5-Spades} river altered his lead and he scored the knockout and added to his already monster stack.

Pucci's Pizza is Aces

Level 12 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante
Tom Puccio
Tom Puccio

Gustavo Lopez opened for 4,500 from middle position and the player next to act three-bet all in for 26,500. Tom Puccio, who owns a local pizzeria called Pucci's Pizza, then moved all in from the cutoff. That inspired the button and blinds to all fold, and for Lopez to get out of the way.

Puccio: {a-Clubs}{a-Hearts}
Opponent: {10-}{10-}

Puccio woke up with the granddaddy of all hands and scored the knockout after the board ran out {2-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{a-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds} to improve him to a full boat.
