The 2019 Seminole Hard Rock May Deep Stack Poker Series kicked off on Thursday with the first of three starting flights in Event #1: $350 DeepStack NLH. Day 1a attracted 225 entrants, but after 14 levels of play 34 remained with Aaron Klausman and his stack of 480,000 leading the way.
Klausman, a 2012 World Series of Poker Circuit Caesars Palace ring winner, is no stranger to success at the Seminole Hard Rock. Earlier this year he finished third in the 2019 Lucky Hearts Poker Open Event #18: $360 NLH for $8,317, and last month finished 34th in the WPT Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown for $17,510. A few days later he would win Event #27: $360 NLH for $6,804.
Not far behind is Erik Christensen, who bagged 446,000, and 2015 Seminole Hard Rock Player of the Year Ory Hen with 429,000. They were the only three players to bag in excess of 400k. Others to amass decent stacks were Richard Saunders (369,000), Joe Teixeira (320,000), Bernadette Coustillas (254,000), and Henry Billete (219,000).
Among those to fire Day 1a but fail to advance were 2015 World Series of Poker Main Event runner-up Josh Beckley, 2015 WSOP Ladies Event champ Jackie Scott, Esther Foley, William Crawford, Trent Smith, Devon Marshall, Peggy Wiser, and Henri [Removed:250].
Two more opening flights remain. Day 1b will commence at 11 a.m. EDT on Friday while Day 1c will take place at the same time on Sunday. The preflop action escaped us but we do know that William Crawford got his stack of roughly 105,000 all in against Philip Consolo.

Crawford was looking to get lucky but failed to do so as the board ran out a lowly 
. With that, Consolo got a nice late-nite boost while Crawford headed for the exit.

George Hortelano raised to 7,500 from early position and Henry Billete responded by popping it to 20,000 from the hijack. Action folded back to Hortelano and he called to see a 
flop.
Hortelano checked and then wasted little time in folding when Billete bet 16,000.

After a player in middle position raised to 6,000 and the player in the hijack called, Russell Williams three-bet all in for his last 39,500 from the cutoff.
The button and both blinds folded before the original raiser began to think. Eventually he released his hand and the player in the hijack did the same allowing Williams to increase his stack by nearly 33%.

In one of the last hands of Level 12, Russell Williams raised to 6,000 from early position and Steve Pollack called next to act. Bernadette Coustillas, who was to his direct left, then called before four other players did the same to make it seven ways to the 
flop.
Three checks saw Pollack bet 10,000 and only Coustillas called to see the turn. Pollack moved all in for 35,000 and Coustillas thought long and hard before making the call.

Pollack was ahead with his pair of aces and actually completed his flush draw when the 
completed the board on the river.
