Yorra Mitigates Damage Against Bennett in Set-Over-Set Hand

Level 11 : 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante
Steven Bennett
Steven Bennett

After Robert Transue raised to 4,000 from middle position and Matt Yorra called from the cutoff, Steven Bennett three-bet to 14,000 from the button. Both blinds folded, Transue got out of the way, and Yorra called to see a {j-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}{2-Clubs} flop.

Yorra check-called a bet of 17,000 and then check-called one of 25,000 on the {10-Diamonds} turn.

When the {a-Spades} completed the board on the river, Yorra checked for the third time.

"I think I have the winner but I'm gonna check back," Bennett said before showing the {j-Diamonds}{j-Hearts} for a flopped set. Yorra then showed the {2-Diamonds}{2-Spades} for an inferior flopped set.

May Deep Stack Flashback: Chanpiseth Keam is the Defending Champ

Level 12 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante
Chanpiseth Keam
Chanpiseth Keam

Last year, this tournament attracted 432 players and offered up a $216,000 prize pool, well ahead of the $150k guarantee.

According to updates from the event, the last three players held relatively similar stacks but Chanpiseth Keam was ahead of the other two. It took very little time for the three remaining players to reach an agreement to chop up the remaining prize pool and crown Keam as champ.

Others to cash the tournament were Mike Newman (13th - $2,160), Joel Harwood (16th - $1,706), Richard Rice (23rd - $1,339), Jason Appel (30th - $1,188), and Matthew Kuba (40th - $1,080).

For more on Keam’s win check out the Seminole Hard Rock Poker recap here.

Big Hand for Woerner

Level 12 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante
Philip Woerner
Philip Woerner

Philip Woerner raised to 5,000 from middle position and the player in the big blind called to see a {3-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{10-Spades} flop, which both players checked.

After the dealer burned and turned the {4-Diamonds}, the big blind check-called a bet of 5,000 and then checked for the third time on the {q-Diamonds} river.

Woerner bet 10,000 and the big blind called. Woerner tabled the {10-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} for tens full or fours and the big blind flashed just the {4-Hearts} before sending his hand to the muck.

Miles Gets Lucky to Bust a Shorty

Level 13 : 1,500/2,500, 2,500 ante
Timothy Miles
Timothy Miles

Timothy Miles, who tried to pass off as Corey Burbick, opened with a raise from the hijack only to have the player in the small blind three-bet jam for approximately 25,000. Miles opted to call and discovered he was way behind.

Miles: {k-Clubs}{8-Clubs}
Opponent: {k-Spades}{q-Diamonds}

The {3-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} flop maintained the status quo, but the dealer shook it up by burning and turning the {8-Diamonds} to pair Miles.

The {9-Spades} river changed nothing and Miles scored the knockout.

Perez Flips Shmuel Out of the Tournament

Level 13 : 1,500/2,500, 2,500 ante
Manny Perez
Manny Perez

David Shmuel moved all in for 37,500 under the gun and Manny Perez made the call next to act. The rest of the field cleared out and it was off to the races.

Shmuel: {j-Spades}{10-Spades}
Perez: {9-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}

Shmuel was at risk and looking to improve to stay alive. The {2-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}{6-Clubs} flop didn't do him any favors and the turn was anticlimactic as the {9-Spades} gave Perez a set to leave Shmuel drawing dead. The meaningless {3-Clubs} was run out on the river and Shmuel headed for the exit.
