Colao Sent Packing

Level 11 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

We arrived at the table to find a short-stacked Hoss Colao all in and at risk before the flop. Colao held {a-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs} and was looking to improve against Budway Salhab's {K-Diamonds}{K-Spades}.

The flop came down {J-Spades}{2-Spades}{6-Diamonds} and Colao stood up from the table. The {Q-Spades} paired one of Colao's cards but his pair of queens remained behind in the hand. He failed to improve further on fifth street and was eliminated from play as the {8-Spades} finished off the board.

Salhab, who at one point in the day was down to just 700 in chips, has now brought his stack up to around 41,000.

Don't Celebrate Too Early

Level 10 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

Chip leader Mark Roberts raised to 2,700 from middle position and Kim Manley called from the small blind. The player in the big blind moved all in for 9,200 more, and after Roberts folded, Manley got an official count of her opponent's stack and made the call.

Big Blind: {K-Hearts}{J-Hearts}
Manley : {J-Diamonds}{10-Spades}

The {A-Spades}{J-Clubs}{6-Clubs} flop didn't change anything, and the {K-Clubs} improved the big blind's hand to two pair, prompting him to pump his fist.

"It's not over yet," remarked an onlooker at the table. Manley could still make Broadway.

Sure enough, the {Q-Spades} landed on the river, giving Manley her straight and sending another player out of the tournament empty-handed.

"Don't celebrate too early," said the onlooker as the big blind exited the table.

One For Demmerley

Level 10 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

The board read {5-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{7-Hearts} when Art Demmerley fired out a bet of 5,000 against a lone opponent. Demmerley's opponent tossed out a call and the {7-Spades} paired the board on fifth street.

Demmerley dipped into his stack and came out with one final bet of 10,000. His opponent snapped him off but then mucked his hand after Demmerley tabled {A-Hearts}{5-Hearts} for sevens and fives. Demmerley dragged in the pot and boosted his stack to around 70,000.
