Walker Survives

Level 10 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

2014 Western New York Poker Challenge Main Event champ Nick Walker moved in preflop for around 13,500 from the cutoff and chip leader Brian O'Shei called from the small blind. The big blind folded, and Walker needed to come from behind with his {K-}{Q-} against O'Shei's {A-}{5-}. Fortunately for Walker the board ran out king-high and he pumped his fist as his stack increased to 29,000 — his peak of the day.

Aces-Versus-Kings-Versus-Queens

Level 10 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

We didn't catch the preflop action but it didn't matter much. These three hands were getting it in.

Charles Johnson had the {Q-Clubs}{Q-Spades} and the worst of it — he was up against two opponents with better starting hands. Johnson stood up in disgust when he saw that he was up against {A-Spades}{A-Diamonds} and {K-Spades}{K-Hearts}, but it was far from over. The board ran out {6-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{A-Clubs} and Johnson realized that he had rivered a flush to take the main pot worth 75,000.

The table then traded stories about similar occurrences while Johnson breathed a sigh of relief with his improbable survival.

O'Shei Cracks Kings in Three-Way All In

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

Andrew Brown was all in preflop with the {K-Clubs}{K-Diamonds} against Brian O'Shei's {J-Clubs}{J-Hearts} and another player's {K-Spades}{Q-Clubs}. What seemed like a dream spot for Brown turned into a nightmare as the board ran out {10-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}, giving O'Shei a set of jacks to increase his stack to 64,000.
