The 2014 Seneca Niagara Summer Slam continued Monday with the start of Event #5, a $125 buy-in no-limit hold’em event with a $50,000 guaranteed prize pool. The special event features six separate starting flights across three days with the survivors advancing to Day 2 on Thursday to play down to a champion.

After Flight A came to a close early Monday evening, Flight B began at 6 p.m. ET and attracted a total of 140 entries. When play wrapped up after 12 levels only 28 remained with John Stempien leading the way with 201,000.

Several others bagged 100K-plus stacks, including John DeWitt (188,000), Phil Kavanaugh (162,400), Steven Intihar (148,700), Brian O’Shei (145,400) and Jeffrey Joseph (129,600)

Event #5 will resume at 11 a.m. on Tuesday with Flight C at 6 p.m. Flight D will get underway in the evening, and the final two flights will take place on Wednesday.

We’ll have complete coverage of Event #5 until a champion is crowned on Thursday. The flagship $600 Main Event kicks off on Friday with the first of two starting flights, with the conclusion set for Sunday.

Two More Hands

Each of the three tables will play two more hands before bagging up for the night. We'll have a full chip count list and a recap following the completion.

Schrader's Aces Hold

Level 12 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

We've seen a lot of big hands collide this evening. This time David "Jake" Schrader's {A-Hearts}{A-Spades} was up against {Q-Spades}{Q-Clubs} and {J-Spades}{J-Clubs} with all the chips in preflop, and the {7-Spades}{9-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{3-Diamonds} board rang true for Schrader to move him into the 100K club.

Walker Walks Out

Level 11 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

We saw Nick Walker get out of his seat and make his way out of the poker room. But before he left he told us he ran {A-}{8-} into {A-}{K-} blind-versus-blind. "I might be back Wednesday," Walker said.
