Rivera Finds a Spade to Double

Level 13 : 1,200/2,400, 300 ante

On a flop of {Q-Clubs}{10-Spades}{9-Spades} Alex Rivera committed his 80,000-chip stack with the {A-Spades}{3-Spades} for a nut flush draw and David Schrader called with the {10-Clubs}{9-Clubs} for two pair.

Rivera stood up as the {4-Spades} completed his flush on the turn, and the {8-Hearts} hit the river to send a big pot his way.

"Let's go! Give me another Corona!"

Early Stop Tonight?

Level 13 : 1,200/2,400, 300 ante

According to the structure sheet the plan tonight is to play 15 full levels or until only 12% of the field remains, whichever comes first. Twelve percent of the 130-player field would be 16, meaning today's action would end early if 10 more players are sent to the rail before the end of Level 15.

"Bounty on Jay!"

Level 13 : 1,200/2,400, 300 ante

Jason Nablo busted Travell Thomas earlier today and Thomas has returned to exact revenge in the only way he can.

"I swear if you bust Jay I'll give you $100," he yelled from a distance toward the remaining three tables.

Check-Raise-Bluff

Level 13 : 1,200/2,400, 300 ante

Alex Rivera, who won this same Main Event in 2012, checked to Jamil Wakil on a {8-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{3-Clubs} flop. Wakil bet 7,000 and Rivera quickly fired back with a raise to 21,000. Wakil tanked for more than a minute while Rivera sat still in his chair but eventually opted to muck his hand.

Rivera flipped over the {J-Clubs}{6-Hearts} for a stone bluff.

Down Goes The Champ

Level 12 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

Two-time Summer Slam champ Joe Ciffa committed the last of his chips with the {4-Spades}{5-Clubs} on a {8-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{4-Hearts} board and needed to improve against Alex Rivera's {8-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}. The {2-Diamonds} turn and {5-Spades} river gave him two pair but Rivera made a straight to take the pot.
