Paul McLean
Paul McLean

Paul McLean has heaps of checks in front of him becoming the first player past the 100,000-chip mark here in Level 5.

He cooled off Carol Leonardi in a huge pot when his kicker played holding {a-}{q-} versus {q-}{j-} and the other two queens on board.

Later he made trip eights to collect another sizable pot and claims he's simply running about as good as it gets right now.

Johnny Vegas has moved firmly into the chip lead here after a massive hand that saw him flop a set and turn a boat to crack pocket queens.

He's closing in on 100,000 already and considering asking the tournament staff if he can bag up now.

Blake Napierala
Blake Napierala

Blake Napierala has developed a reputation as one of the best tournament players in Western New York and winning Event #4 on the 2015 Seneca Niagara Summer Slam schedule last night only adds to it.

He also made the final table of the 2015 Western NY Poker Challenge Main Event this past March, finishing 5th, and has a slew of big scores in events big and small here in Niagara Falls and beyond.

A Registered Nurse by trade, Napierala is also winning in other areas of life right now, having dropped 40 pounds over the last few months to book a recent weight loss bet victory.

Weighing in today to collect the win, Napierala said he used a combination of a low-carb diet and regular exercise to shed the pounds and feels healthy and focused as a result.

He late registered for the Main Event moments ago and will certainly be one to watch today, even if there's less of him to see.

Scott Hosbach
Scott Hosbach

Scott Hosbach is up to almost three times the starting stack now and appears to be steamrolling his table.

He got it all in preflop with queens versus Alex Rivera's big slick to bust him in the middle of a massive seven-hand rush where he also appears to keep making the best hand and holding.

Tom Babiarz
Tom Babiarz

Tom Babiarz took the chip lead into the final day of the 2015 Seneca Niagara Summer Slam Event #3 $25,000 Guaranteed $50 re-entry Thursday.

A card dead day left him short of the final table, posting a 24th-place finish for $261.

However, he's back at it today in the Main Event and already off to a good start after flopping a pair and a straight flush draw.

In the end he got more than a full double up when he rivered a straight and ran into an opponent willing to stack off.
