Bullish on Billiteri

Level 8 : 300/600, 75 ante
Julie Billiteri
Julie Billiteri

Multiple satellite qualifier Julie Billiteri is finding her footing on her second bullet here today, and is above starting for the first time heading into the next break.

She was recently heads-up with Jeffery Hobrecker on a {4-Hearts}{10-Spades}{10-Hearts}{7-Spades} board with about 19,000 in the middle already, when Hobrecker checked.

Billiteri fired out 12,000 and Hobrecker made the call. The river was the {3-Spades}, putting three spades on the board, and when Hobrecker checked, Billiteri immediately turned over the {10-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds} for trips.

"Sexy," she said, dragging the pot as Hobrecker claimed two aces and mucked.

Shine On Shanahan

Level 8 : 300/600, 75 ante
Matt Shanahan
Matt Shanahan

Matt Shanahan got it in so good for a massive chip lead pot on Day 2 of the big $200 multi-entry multi-starting day Summer Slam prelim, it would have taken a miracle river card to beat him.

Unfortunately, that's exactly what happened.

But Shanahan picked himself up, dusted himself off, and jumped in the Main Event today. Not too long ago he got it in good again, when his opponent shoved the turn with top pair and the nut-flush draw against his top two, aces and jacks.

This time, Shanahan faded the river and is now among the bigger stacks in the room.

Strange Brew, Look What She's Done To You

Level 8 : 300/600, 75 ante
Cara Brewer
Cara Brewer

Las Vegas, NV's Cara Brewer just took a more-than 50,000-chip pot off "Buffalo" Ray Williams, flopping a set of tens versus top pair aces.

There were three diamonds on the board by the river, but Williams didn't bet enough to get Brewer to consider folding.

Add that to the flush she flopped in the big blind where she got three-streets of value against a set of eights and Brewer has moved on to the top of the leaderboard.

Hackney's House

Level 7 : 250/500, 50 ante
Dale Hackney
Dale Hackney

Durand, MI's Dale Hackney flopped two pair four-handed on a five-high board, then called a turn shove by an opponent with no pair and no draw.

That gift put him up among the leaders and he's closing in on 100,000 now after picking up a few more small pots.

Holding Out For A Hero

Level 7 : 250/500, 50 ante

A group of Seneca Niagara tournament legends are in the mix today.

Joining the ever-growing field over the last few levels were multiple Seneca Niagara title holders Blake Napierala, Rick Block, Silvio DeRubeis, and Dan Wagner.

Although most have built contending stacks already, 2015 Summer Slam Main Event 4th-place finisher Dan Wagner just started his quest to better that result.

Kings Make Schloss a Boss

Level 7 : 250/500, 50 ante
Jason Schloss
Jason Schloss

Arcade, NY's Jason Schloss picked up pocket kings and despite getting involved in a multi-way pot with multiple raises, somehow held through a {6-}{6-}{4-}{5-}{5-} board.

He's now sitting on 85,000 and is among the leaders now into Level 7.

From Hero To Zero, Mayor Rellinger Impeached

Level 6 : 200/400, 50 ante
Mike Rellinger
Mike Rellinger

Mike "The Mayor" Rellinger went from the penthouse to the outhouse over the last 40 minutes, losing two massive hands to bust after taking the early chip lead.

Two-thirds of his stack went to Rochester's Alex Rice, who held {a-}{q-} on a {q-}{q-}{X-} flop and eventually got it in with Rellinger, who never showed.

The rest were gone after he ran kings into aces. The Niagara Falls Poker Room is substantially quieter as a result.

Catch and Release

Level 6 : 200/400, 50 ante
Alicia LaPorte Pachla
Alicia LaPorte Pachla

Perennial Seneca Niagara Main Event satellite qualifier Alicia LaPorte Pachla made sevens full of kings to drag a sizable pot off Nathan Kross a few minutes ago, although bet-calling a raise on the river instead of getting it in may have left her with a few regrets.

She also got some value out of an aces over kings cooler earlier, although not the max. Either way, she's climbing the counts steadily and has twice the starting stack now, heading into the second break of the day.
