$300 No Limit Hold'em
Day 1c Started
The Niagara Falls Poker Room at the Seneca Niagara Resort & Casino is buzzing this weekend as the $100,000 guaranteed 2017 Seneca Fall Poker Classic $300 No Limit Hold'em opening event drew big numbers in its first two flights Friday.
In fact, 185 entries have been recorded already, making the event a huge favorite to absolutely crush the $100,000 guarantee. The third starting flight will begin at 10 a.m. local time Saturday and a fourth and final goes off at 6 p.m. tonight.
Odds are the meat of the guarantee will be met by the end of this third flight and the fourth will be all gravy.
Any and all survivors will push through to Sunday's Day 2, where now some big money will await and a champion will be crowned.
The players in each flight will kick off the proceedings holding 20,000 in tournament chips. The levels are 30 minutes each and the plan is to play to the end of the 14th or when just 12 percent of the field remains, whichever comes first.
Registration and unlimited re-entry is open until the start of Level 9. Plus, even players who finish a flight with chips can get in another one. Those players will carry their best stack forward to Day 2 Sunday.
The Seneca Fall Poker Classic always brings out some of the best poker players from Western New York and beyond. As a result, the prize pool in this opening event should be big one.

There's 56 entries on the board already as this third of four flights starts strong.
Even Matt Marcinkiewicz eschewed the usual Saturday morning slumber to turn up and play, although Seneca Niagara's resident ginger hipster forgot to shave.
Marcinkiewicz is joined by the cast of characters below on the early leaderboard as they move through the day's second level.

Alden, NY's Don Moeller got lucky to hit a set early on.
He got even luckier when one opponent decided to ship it in after pairing his weak ace's kicker on the river.
Moeller called and is the Level 3 chip leader after collecting the double up.
Player | Chips | Progress |
---|---|---|
Don Moeller | 40,000 |
Louie Tomassi was only too happy to get it in three ways on a flop.
He had flopped a set of threes and looked like a shoe-in to crack Brian Bowen's aces and the third player's two pair.
Sure enough, the set held and Tomassi is now the chip leader heading into the day's first break.
Player | Chips | Progress |
---|---|---|
Louie Tomassi | 70,000 |
Russ Campanella rode the highs and lows of a big hand versus Leo Kaplin here in Level 3, and after coming out on top, he will take two starting stacks into the day's first break.
The 2016 Seneca Summer Slam Main Event champ flopped a set against Kaplin's flush draw and they got it in. Kaplin turned his flush, but they don't have a river card for nothing.
Campanella came back when the board paired on the river, filling him up.
