Andy Spears Bags Best on Day 1a of $50,000 Guaranteed $200 Hold'em Event

Day 1a chipleader Andy Spears
Day 1a chipleader Andy Spears

Thie first of four starting flights of Event #2: $200 No-Limit Hold'em $50,000 Guarantee has wrapped up as Day 1a saw 134 entries accumulate over 14 levels. Just 20 remain in the hunt carrying their stacks forward onto Day 2. When the final hand was dealt, Andy Spears was atop the counts.

Spears cruised through Day 1a en route a monstrous stack of 326,700. In fact, between Spears and second-best stack, Craig Gerringer, who ended play with 253,600, the two bagged more than 25% of the chips in play. David Tokash (123,400), Rob Zaenglein (120,500), Ira Basil (120,300),Justin Quin (110,000), and Will Murray (103,500) were the only players to bag over 100k.

Notables Mark Roberts and Paul Bitterman are also on to Day 2. Roberts saw a bit of his stack dispersed around the table during the latter stage of Day 1a but will have a seat locked up on Day 2 with 80,000 in the bag. Bitterman, who final tabled the Summer Slam High Roller event on Thursday night also made it through with 46,100.

Any player unfortunate enough to not make it through Day 1a will have three more chances to secure a seat on Sunday for Day 2. Day 1b gets underway at 6 p.m. Friday evening with two more flights scheduled for the same times on Saturday.

Stay tuned to the blog as PokerNews will be on the floor providing live coverage throughout the series.
