Day 3 Started
The largest live poker tournament in South Africa and biggest SunBet Poker Tour Main Event in history will determine a winner today as of noon local time inside of the GrandWest Casino outside of Cape Town. Held in cooperation between casino and entertainment operator Sun International and the Monster Jam Poker Tour, the 2024 SunBet Poker Tour GrandWest ZAR 15,000 Main Event ($828) attracted a field of 504 entries and generated a prize pool of ZAR 6,350,400 ($351,395), surpassing the guarantee by more than fifty percent.
Among the 12 hopefuls still in contention, ten of them hail from South Africa and try to keep the trophy on home soil. However, the man in charge is Colin Horgan from Ireland after he stormed throughout Day 1b and Day 2 with his aggressive style. He leads the way with 4,830,000 and is well ahead of Nic Ioannoy (3,160,000) as well as Diane Walker (2,505,000), the two closest followrs.
Walker is one of two women still in contention and joined on the final day by Ronit Chamani, who is 8th in the country's all-time money list with nearly $900k in cashes. Placed even higher on South Africa's The Hendon Mob ranking is Giovanni Zanette in fifth, who returns in the middle of the pack on a stack of 905,000.

"I am sure I have the best hand," Chamani sighed, mulled it over some more and called to get shown the top pair.-

Nic Ioannoy chipped up in the early stages while Diane Walker lost some ground.
She then raised from the cutoff and Nic Ioannoy called, putting in only T-25,000 chips. "Use the 5,000 chips please," Walker joked.
The flop came A♣J♥3♥ and Ioannoy check-called for 225,l000. "Non believer," Walker gritted and Ioannoy replied "what can I say?"
Both checked down the 10♦ turn and Q♣ river for Walker to show her A♥5♥ for top pair and the missed nut flush draw. Ioannoy exposed his 8♥7♥ as he had missed the inferior flush draw that could have been quite costly.
