Two Starting Flights Remain in the 2024 SunBet Poker Tour GrandWest Main Event

The 2024 SunBet Poker Tour stop at the GrandWest Casino in Cape Town is gearing up for the grand finale of the ZAR 15,000 ($828) Main Event, which has attracted 258 entries so far. The series is held in cooperation between Sun International and the Monster Jam Poker Tour and has become Africa's Richest Poker Tour throughout the last few years.

In 2024, the season ending marquee event here in Cape Town attracted a field of 429 entries and generated a prize pool of ZAR 5,405,400 ($289,916) to breeze past the ZAR 4 Million guarantee. By the looks of it, that doesn't seem to be much of a problem
today either as two starting days remain to boost the attendance. During the series so far, all figures have been up by 30% or more, and that is a very promising sign for the marquee Main Event.

Leading the way so far after two of four flights is Clive Berman with 677,000 followed by Gareth Fourie (676,000), Colin Horgan (662,000), and Joey Weissman (587,000).

All players start their journey with 40,000 in chips, which is good enough for 200 big blinds in the opening level at blinds of 100-200 and a big blind ante of 200. The late registration is open for the first ten levels, during which unlimited re-entries can be purchased. There will be a dinner break after level eight in the regular heat 1d, which kicks off at 11 a.m. local time.

For the penultimate flight, the levels last 50 minutes each throughout, while the turbo heat 1d kicks off at 8 p.m. local time and will feature 30-minute levels during the late registration and 15 minutes thereafter. Both flights will play a total of 15 levels or down to the top 15% of each respective field, whichever comes faster.

The PokerNews updates will focus on Day 1c, which will also have a live stream with cards-up coverage on a 30-minute delay as well on the Monster Jam Poker YouTube channel.

Let's Have Ourselves a Break and a Kit Kat

Level 1 : Blinds 100/200, 200 ante

The cards are in the air for level one, but so far there is just one table running and that one happens to be on the feature table which runs on a delay! Don't worry, the field will fill up soon but it may take a big for the next updates to appear. A first list of early entrants is to follow, though.

Level 1 : Blinds 100/200, 200 ante

The first five players to register have been heading to the feature table and there updates can be followed soon via the live stream on the Monster Jam Poker Tour YouTube channel. Several other players are buying in shortly to open the outer tables as well.

Gossard Doesn't Believe Schlegel

Level 1 : Blinds 100/200, 200 ante

Beat Schlegel raised to 600 with the AQ and Bernard Gossard three-bet to 1,800 for Schlegel to call. On the AQ6 flop, Gossard bet 2,500 and called a raise to 6,000 by Schlegel. They checked down the K turn and 7 river to award the pot to Schlegel.

Having lost a big chunk to Sheldon Grove but moved back closer to the starting stack.

SM Raises Out Langenveldt

Level 1 : Blinds 100/200, 200 ante

DJH Langenveldt had won a pot early on to earn a minor boost and then limped the small blind. SM raised to 700 from the big blind and Langenveldt called. On the AK4 flop they both checked. Langenveldt bet the J turn for 600 and folded when SM raised to 3,000.
