Peter Smith reraised to massive 17,000 on the 10♠3♠2♦ flop and David Ng, who had made it 7,500 to go, eventually called.
Smith then jammed for around 7,900 on the 9♦ turn and Ng came along.
"Do you have a pair?" Smith asked and showed his 4♦4♥. Ng had the superior pocket pair in 8♦8♥ and the 3♥ river knocked out Smith.
Anand Kumar saw his first entry in the tournament come up very short-lived as he was knocked out by Marko Nortje. His seat was almost immediately filled by Cliton Taliwanth and the bubble boy of the last SPT Main Event here in Pretoria, Imran Bhojani, has also entered Day 1b as well.
Last but not least, Giovanni Zanette is now involved in the action, too. Only a few weeks ago, the South African finished in 33rd place in the 2024 WSOP Main Event in Las Vegas and that propelled him into fourth place on the all-time money list of South Africa.
Johan De Graaff avoided a re-entry for now when he doubled his short stack of 7,600 with A♦K♦ versus 6♦5♦ on a board of A♥10♠5♣9♥K♠.
With the turn showing 6♥5♦5♥A♥, Venesen Naidoo bet 1,700 and was called by the table short stack Johan De Graaff. That led them to the 8♥ on the river on which Naidoo bet 9,000. De Graaff had fewer than that behind and sigh-folded.
A fourth table is now open with up to 30 players in the mix. Anand Kumar and Okkie Fourie both drew table seven and the action is underway over there now as well.
Johan De Graaff lost a big portion to his stack very early on as Stephen Courtney jumped up on the leaderboard.
Hafiz Juma then won a three-way pot when he check-called a bet worth 1,600 on the 7♥5♦3♥7♣Q♣ river against button aggressor Henk Wiese. The latter briefly flashed his cards but could not beat the 10♣5♣ of Juma.

Multi-ways to the 9♦9♥7♥ flop, Jamie Vilela in the cutoff bet 2,000 and Sugen Singh called on the button. The action repeated for the same 2,000 on the J♣ turn before they checked the 4♦ on the river. Vilela exposed the J♦J♠ for jacks full and Singh revealed A♥2♥ for the missed the nut flush draw.
"Why don't you hit the flush, you gonna pay me," Vilela grinned.
Three ways to the K♦10♣6♦J♦ turn, David Ng bet 2,700 out of the big blind. Joe Rahme then bumped it up to 10,000 from the next seat and forced two folds, as the button also got out of the way.
Rahme exposed his A♦J♥ for second pair, gutshot broadway and nut flush draw. Ng mashed one of his cards together with Rahme's jacks and grinned "I folded a set of jacks" (but only had one jack).
