Lipman Loses Battle of Short Stacks

Level 7 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
Howard Lipman
Howard Lipman

Howard Lipman three-bet jammed a short stack in the cutoff and El-Juan Du Plessiers did so in the small blind to force out the initial raiser.

Howard Lipman: A7 All in
El-Juan Du Plessiers: 1010

The J87 flop gave Lipman an inferior pair while the 10 turn improved Du Plessiers to a set, leaving Lipman with four outs to a chop only. Instead, the 8 river gave Du Plessiers a full house for the knockout.

Dayani Runs Hot Like the Sun

Level 7 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
Danny Dayani
Danny Dayani

Out of the big blind, Danny Dayani bet the AQ82 turn for 12,000 and the Q river for 15,000. Huawei Sun called both times in the cutoff without any hesitation and was shown the Q8 for queens full oh eights by Dayani.

That was more than enough to win the pot and propel Dayani to a six-figure stack.

Marais Sends Woolf Out of the Pack

Level 7 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
Jacques Marais
Jacques Marais

With 22,000 in the middle to the A32 flop, Jacques Marais and Adam Woolf both checked. Marais bet the 4 turn for 12,000 to get a call by Woolf, then bet another 15,000 on the 7 river. Woolf moved all-in for little more to get snap-called and showed the A7 for rivered aces and sevens.

Marais had that crushed all the way with the 33 for a set of treys to further boost his already big stack prior to the dinner break.

Gower Scores a Knockout Before Dinner

Level 7 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

In three way action to the 1085 flop, a shorter stack opted to jam for around 28,000 and Jacques Marais asked for a count to then call. Chris Gower, who had just received his dinner order, quickly called while Marais still flashed his cards to Theuns Prinsloo.

The short stack tabled the A10 for top pair and top kicker, but was in rough shape against the 88 of Gower. Some hope came with the A turn but the 7 river secured the pot for Gower.

Liebenthal Wins at Showdown

Level 8 : Blinds 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

On the tail end of a Q6684 board, Josh Liebenthal had checked and then faced a bet worth 6,000 by a late entrant. He went into the tank and nearly used one time bank extension before the one most popular question followed:

"Will you show if I fold?"

Liebenthal called a few seconds later and was shown the J3 for air, which he had beat with the A10. Their table broke right after as the field had plummeted prior to the dinner break.
