The Big Stack Bully Has Arrived

Level 11 : Blinds 1,500/2,500, 2,500 ante

"SM" arrived with his massive stack over on table six and one of the first few hands produced a flop of 983. Stephen Courtney in the big blind led for 11,000 and Brandon Matthews called in the hijack. SM then bumped it up to 45,000 in the cutoff and both opponents folded.

"I had two pair," Matthews added and that left SM somewhat surprised.

SM then opened to 5,000 in the next hand for Courtney and Tanith Rothman to defend their blinds. Only Courtney check-called for 5,000 on the A53 flop to then check-fold the 9 turn when SM made it 10,500 to go.

SM continues his very aggressive playing style that has propelled him to the largest stack in the room right now.

Karrim Joins the Chip Leaders

Level 11 : Blinds 1,500/2,500, 2,500 ante

After their table broke, Ahmed Karrim and Elai Mazor moved their big stacks over to table six and joined the likes of SM and Brandon Matthews to put well more than one million chips on the table.

Karrim got to work right away and tangled with Matthews in a three-bet pot. On the J438 turn, Matthews checked in the big blind and called a bet worth 55,000 by Karrim. Matthews checked and sigh-called another 38,000 on the A river. Karrim showed the 43 for two pairs and Matthews mucked the KK.

Karrim then opened to 5,500 and Matthews as well as SM called in the blinds. On a 1065 flop, the blinds check-called Karrim's 8,500 but check-folded the J turn when Karrim fired a second barrel for 31,000.

In the meanwhile, Jon Per Persent was eliminated by Danny Dayani as the field was cut down further.

Adam Beats Singh in Showdown

Level 11 : Blinds 1,500/2,500, 2,500 ante

Rayhaan Adam opened to 7,500 in the cutoff and Sugen Singh called on the button, the blinds folded. On the K108 flop, both checked and Adam bet the 5 turn for 17,000 for Singh to call.

They checked again the 9 river and Adam tabled K8. "Don't slowroll me, just show the cards," Adam joked as Singh exposed the inferior J10.

Koutsikaris Leaves Sinnema Even Shorter

Level 11 : Blinds 1,500/2,500, 2,500 ante

There were 11,000 out in front of Costa Koutsikaris and Mickael Sinnema then didn't verbally declare his intentions while partly moving his short stack and exposing his AK already. The floor was called and it was ruled that Sinnema called the raise and had to continue the hand with his cards face-up.

On the Q64 flop, Sinnema then checked and Koutsikaris bet 25,000.

"I guess I fold ..." Sinnema sighed and did so to be left even shorter.

"I promise you I would have called the all-in," Koutsikaris responded.

Cornelli Falls to SM

Fabio Cornelli
Fabio Cornelli

On the J9610 turn, SM fired a bet of 30,000 out of the blinds and Fabio Cornelli moved all-in to get snap-called.

"You have it, eh?" Cornelli asked and was shown the 1010 by SM. The set of tens had one hundred percent already, as Cornelli's AJ had zero outs anymore as the blank 4 river ended his run.

Shadiack Among the Next to Fall

Level 12 : Blinds 2,000/3,000, 3,000 ante

Paul Shadiack was all-in with a short stack out of the small blind and earned three callers. Costa Sissou jammed the AK8 flop to isolate.

Paul Shadiack: 75 All in
Costa Sissou: A10

Shadiack needed running cards and found some hope with the 5 turn, but it was followed by the blank J river.

Aspeling Doubles Through Adam

Level 12 : Blinds 2,000/3,000, 3,000 ante

Rayhaan Adam had raised to 12,500 in the big blind and then faced the shove by Elmien Aspeling in the hijack for 68,500. The big stack asked for an exact count and visibly mulled over the possible hand combinations before settling on a call.

Elmien Aspeling: KJ All in
Rayhaan Adam: A6

Adam was ahead preflop and on the 932 flop but the J turn gave Aspeling the lead. An ace or spade was required for Adam to deal the final blow but the 2 river ensured Aspeling's double-up.

The Action Stays Fast-Paced

Level 12 : Blinds 2,000/3,000, 3,000 ante

Only 38 players currently remain and the next table will break when two further players run out of chips. Among the last two casualties were Mickael Sinnema and Ronit Chamani, who can still jump into the turbo heat 1d.

Chamani mentioned that she flopped broadway with AxK on a QJ10 flop and Danny Dayani moved all-in with queen-ten to hit a full house.

The goal for Day 1c is reaching the top 24 finishers or until the end of level 15, whichever of the two comes first.

Matthews Busts in a "Wild Hand"

Level 12 : Blinds 2,000/3,000, 3,000 ante

Stephen Courtney raised to 6,000 from an early position and was called by Brandon Matthews on the button as well as Teren Ramnundlall in the big blind. The flop brought J86 and Ramnundlall bet 12,000 first to act. Courtney raised to 25,000 only for Matthews to then jam for 78,000.

Ramnundlall folded and Courtney used three time bank extensions before he made the call.

Brandon Matthews: AK All in
Stephen Courtney: 1010

Matthews was behind but had all spades as well as aces and kings at his disposal. The 5 turn and Q river were blanks, as Courtney jumped out of his chair in relief with a "thank you, thank you".

Ahmed Karrim then confirmed all the details and added "you missed a wild hand".
