Luyt Doubles Through Lottering

Eben Lottering raised to 10,000 from under the gun and Chris Luyt called two seats over, Hennie Appel defended the big blind.

On the J♦10♣5♥ flop, Appel checked and Lottering pushed all-in. Luyt called all-in for 36,000 and Appel folded.

"I have nothing," Lottering announced and showed his K♦Q♣ for the open-ended straight draw.

Luyt was ahead with the Q♠J♣ and it remained that way with the 10♠ turn and 5♠ river for him to double for 36,000.

All recent casualties in the penultimate flight pretty much instantly jumped into Day 1d, which has reached level six out of fifteen. The field increased to 51 entries of which 35 players remain and that brought the overall field up to 296 with the ZAR 4 Million guarantee within eyesight.

For Day 1c, there are now 18 players remaining across two nine-handed tables and the flight will conclude early if the top 15 finishers are reached prior to the end of level 15.

Rajeev Poonhath had patiently waited on the outer tables to get his shorter stack into the middle and did so with the A♦2♦.

Rex Hsu looked him up with the Q♥J♥ and picked up a sweat on the 10♥4♥4♣ flop already. Instead, the 9♠ turn and 8♠ river improved Hsu to the straight and that spelled the end for Poonhath.
