Laak Eliminated

Level 16 : 10,000/20,000, 2,000 ante
Phil Laak
Phil Laak

Fedor Holz raised to 55,000 from under the gun, Dan Shak called from the hijack seat, Phil Laak called all in from the small blind for 43,000, and then Andrew Robl called from the big blind.

With Laak all in, the flop came down {J-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{3-Clubs}. Robl checked, Holz bet 65,000, Shak called, and Robl folded.

The turn was the {4-Diamonds}, which was checked by both Holz and Shak. The two also checked the {5-Hearts} river card.

Holz showed the {A-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}, Shak had the {A-Diamonds}{J-Spades}, and Laak had the {J-Clubs}{10-Hearts}. Shak's hand was best, and Laak was eliminated in 12th place.

Shak Through Laak

Level 15 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

Dan Shak made it 55,000, then called when Phil Laak three-bet to 130,000.

Laak led for 175,000 on the {10-Spades}{4-Spades}{3-Diamonds}, then snap-called when Shak shoved for 604,000. Laak had the {q-Spades}{q-Hearts} and was ahead against Shak's {a-Spades}{8-Spades} nut flush draw.

The {10-Diamonds} turn changed little, but the {a-Clubs} river was the right one for Shak, as he doubled through, leaving Laak extremely short.

Laak Finds Kings

Level 15 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

Phil Laak had moved all in under the gun the hand before, picking up the blinds and antes, when Dan Shak raised.

Laak then three-bet the small blind and Shak four-bet shoved. Laak called off for his tournament life and 500,000 chips with the {k-Clubs}{k-Hearts} and Shak had the {a-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}.

The board ran out {3-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{8-Clubs}{k-Diamonds} and Laak doubled up with a set.
