Heaps for Holz

Level 4 : 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante

Fedor Holz had a bet of what looked like around 140,000 in front of him on a completed board of {q-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{2-Spades}{a-Spades}. Ben Sulsky decided to call for about half of his chips, and Holz showed him {a-Diamonds}{9-Spades} for aces up on the river. Sulsky mucked his hand, and Holz, who finished second here last year, is rolling once again.

Kurganov Makes a Flush

Level 4 : 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante

Doug Polk opened for 4,000 in the cutoff and called a three-bet to 13,000 from Igor Kurganov, who had the button. Both players checked the {8-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{j-Diamonds} flop, and Polk bet 20,500 on the {5-Spades} turn. Kurganov called, and the river was an {a-Diamonds}. Polk bet 38,000, and Kurganov quickly put in a call.

"Ace," Polk said, not seeming confident at all.

He was right to be hesitant to show, as Kurganov turned over {7-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}, and Polk mucked {a-Hearts}{6-Hearts}.

Haxton Shoves on Two

Level 4 : 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante

David Einhorn opened the pot with a raise to 4,500 from under the gun, and Fedor Holz called in the cutoff, as did Isaac Haxton on the button, and Koray Aldemir in the big blind.

The flop of {5-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds} was checked round to Haxton who bet 8,000 before Aldemir check-raised to 25,000. Einhorn folded, and Holz called before Haxton contemplated his decision.

He would choose to use a time extension button before eventually moving all in for roughly 400,000.

Aldemir folded, as did Holz, and Haxton was pushed the pot.

Anonymous Businessman G.I. Eliminated

Level 4 : 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante
Bill Perkins
Bill Perkins

The businessman known only as G.I. was all in for 41,000 when we got to his table, and Bill Perkins was all in also for 47,000. Dan Smith put them both at risk.

G.I.: {j-Spades}{8-Spades}
Perkins: {10-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}
Smith: {a-Spades}{q-Diamonds}

Perkins called for a ten but didn't even need the one he got as the board ran out {4-Spades}{4-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{10-Spades}.

"All right," he said. "Got some bluffin' chips now."

"No More River Tanks" But Rast Picks Off Koon

Level 4 : 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante
Brian Rast
Brian Rast

We found Brian Rast in the big blind and deep in the tank on a board of {j-Spades}{j-Clubs}{k-Clubs}{7-Spades}{2-Spades}. There was about 130,000 in the pot, and Jason Koon had bet 80,000. Rast had only about 25,000 more than that, so he'd be in dire straits if he called and lost. He used all three of his time extensions and then decided to call with about 10 seconds left.

Koon flipped over {9-Clubs}{8-Clubs} for a whiffed combo draw, and Rast showed {a-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}

"No more river tanks now, boys," he said with a smile as he dragged the pot. "Only 30 seconds from here on out."

Aldemir Turns Two Pair on Holz

Level 4 : 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante

From the cutoff, Fedor Holz opened to 4,000 and both Dan Shak and Koray Aldemir called in the blinds.

The flop fell {J-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{3-Clubs} and the action was checked to Holz who bet 8,500. Shak called, but Aldemir raised to 28,500 as Holz called and Shak folded.

The turn landed the {4-Spades} and Aldemir pushed out a bet of 60,000. Holz called and the river landed the {7-Diamonds}.

Aldemir went into the tank, and when his time was about to expire, he opted to use a time extension button.

Eventually, Aldemir would check, as would Holz. Aldemir tabled his {4-Clubs}{3-Spades} and Holz folded.

Mercier Climbing

Level 4 : 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante

Pratyush Buddiga opened to 3,500 and was immediately met with a three-bet from Daniel Negreanu in the hi-jack to 12,500.

Jason Mercier cold-called in the cutoff before Tom Marchese four-bet his button to 40,000. Buddiga and Negreanu folded, but Mercier called.

The {4-Diamonds}{J-Clubs}{5-Diamonds} flop was checked by both players before the {8-Clubs} landed on the turn.

Mercier bet out 47,000 and Marchese folded.
