Christoph Vogelsang Eliminated in 5th Place ($1,200,000)

Level 20 : 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante
Christoph Vogelsang
Christoph Vogelsang

Christoph Vogelsang shoved in the small blind with {q-Clubs}{6-Clubs} for 200,000 and Mikita Badziakouski snap-called with {j-Spades}{j-Diamonds} in the big. The {5-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{k-Clubs} flop helped Vogelsang a bunch but he still needed a bit more. Neither the {9-Hearts} nor the {8-Diamonds} did it for him though, and last year's champ bowed out in fifth.

Negreanu Flops Top Set in Three-Bet Pot

Level 20 : 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante

Daniel Negreanu hit a few sets yesterday on his way to the final table and he just picked up his first today. Fortunately for him, it was in a three-bet pot as he opened {9-Clubs}{9-Spades} to 75,000 in the first position and Justin Bonomo pumped the price to 325,000.

Negreanu called and he couldn't ask for much better flop than {7-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}. He checked to Bonomo who had just a gutshot and a backdoor flush draw with his {A-Clubs}{5-Clubs}. Bonomo fired 400,000 but laid his hand down when Negreanu slid in a pile of white chips worth 900,000.

Negreanu is now approaching 6 million in chips, extending his chip lead.

Mikita Badziakouski completed with {j-Hearts}{9-Spades} and Daniel Negreanu made it 120,000 with {a-Diamonds}{6-Spades}. Badziakouski called.

The flop brought {9-Hearts}{7-Spades}{2-Spades}, pulling Badziakouski ahead. Both checked to the {3-Clubs}. Badziakouski bet 180,000 and Negreanu called. On the {8-Spades} river Badziakouski bet 240,000 and Negreanu raised to 750,000. Badziakouski needed a time bank but opted to fold.

"Daniel was easier to play against when he didn't bluff," Justin Bonomo said.

Badziakouki Wins Three-Bet Pot

Level 20 : 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante

Mikita Badziakouski acted first and he raised to 60,000 with {4-Spades}{4-Diamonds}. Jason Koon was sitting on the button and he looked down at {A-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}, three-betting to 190,000. Badziakouski opted to call and go to the flop.

The {9-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{J-Hearts} texture missed Koon and he checked behind.

The {7-Diamonds} landed on the turn and Badziakouski fired 180,000 which was good enough to claim the pot as Koon released his ace-queen.

Negreanu Double Barrels Vogelsang Out of Winning Hand

Level 20 : 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante

Christoph Vogelsang raised to 65,000 on the button, holding {3-Spades}{3-Hearts}. Daniel Negrenu called out of the big blind with {A-Clubs}{3-Clubs} and both players checked the {4-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{9-Spades} flop before they both picked up a gutshot straight draw on the {7-Diamonds}.

Negreanu elected to lead out 50,000 and Vogelsang called.

The {Q-Hearts} river left Vogelsang's under pair as the best hand but Negreanu fired a big bet, making it 250,000.

"Why so much?" Vogelsang smelled that Negreanu might have been bluffing. He used a time extension to calculate his options but then announced, "OK, I fold," to please Negreanu's ears.

Trips for Bonomo

Level 20 : 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante

From the cutoff, Daniel Negreanu opened to 75,000 with {2-Hearts}{2-Clubs}. He found a customer in Justin Bonomo who flatted from the small blind with {A-Clubs}{10-Hearts}.

Negreanu tried to claim the pot with a 50,000-bet on the {A-Spades}{9-Spades}{3-Hearts} but Bonomo had no reason to give up.

He called and the {A-Hearts} hit the felt. Bonomo led out 75,000 and Negreanu waived the white flag.
