Gerrick The Beneficiary of Misread Hand
A player limped in early position, the small blind completed, and Jonathan Gerrick checked his option in the big blind.
The small blind would then lead on the A♣J♠3♣ flop and only Gerrick called. The same would occur on the 3♥ turn, with Gerrick calling another bet.
With just under 100,000 in the middle, the two players saw a 9♦ river as the small blind led for 63,000. Gerrick took some time before he announced all in for his 164,000 stack, and the small blind snapped it off as the covering stack.
Jonathan Gerrick: J♣3♠
Small Blind: 10♦4♦
The table stood aghast at what they had just witnessed after the small blind snapped off the river jam with ten-high. Gerrick's stack was counted and the small blind sent the doubling chips over, and it wasn't until the post-mortem during the next shuffle that the small blind admitted that he though his hand was ten-three, instead of ten-four.
"Good to know," tablemate Dejuante Alexander joked, "I was about to call the floor over because that can't be legal."
