Day 1a of the €1,100 WPT Prime Sanremo Championship Event has concluded here at Casino Sanremo, with 11 players progressing to Day 2 from the field of 85.

Roberto Armato of Italy holds the chip lead, bagging up an impressive stack of 873,000, and is closely followed by fellow countrymen Michael Uguccioni (745,000) and Lorenzo Arduini (576,000).

Armato surged towards the chip lead when he picked off a bluff by Chris Dowling, and will be hoping to surpass his biggest recorded live cash of just shy of $7,000 in the coming days. Uguccioni will be aiming to exceed $200,000 in recorded results with a deep run here, while Arduini will seek to boost his impressive live earnings of over $700,000.

Notable names who did not manage to find a bag include David Kozma, Fabio Peluso and Romain Le Dantec, all of whom are expected to try their luck at another of the starting flights.

In what is expected to be a busy weekend, Day 1b will take place on Friday June 7 at noon local time, and will follow the same structure as Day 1a.

Days 1c and Day 1d are scheduled for Saturday June 8 at noon and 8:00 p.m. local time respectively. Day 1c will follow the same structure as Days 1a-1b, while Day 1d is is a turbo flight featuring 20-minute levels, but otherwise following the same structure as previous flights.

Days 2 and 3 are due to take place on June 9 and June 10 respectively at 1:00 p.m. local time, and will feature 60-minute levels.

Around 100,000 was in the middle on a board of 7Q24 in a hand between Dominik Ostrowski on the button and Marco Regonaschi in the big blind. Regonaschi check-called a bet of 50,000 from his opponent.

On the 4 river, Regonaschi check-called versus a bet of 65,000 from Ostrowski. Ostrowski showed KQ for a pair of queens and Regonaschi mucked.
