On his very first hand of the day, Mourad Amokrane opened to 2,200 from the cutoff and faced Kostya Zaks, who defended from the big blind.
He continued for 2,000 on the 2♠10♦J♥ flop but Zaks check-raised to 4,000. Amokrane called, and called again after Zaks fired a second barrel of 9,000 on the 4♠ turn.
Zaks asked for 24,000 on the K♠ river. "It's my first hand," Amokrane said to his neighbors. He eventually made the call, but lost the pot to Zaks' flush with 6♠3♠.

Level 6 just ended, so the 214 players of Day 1a are on a 15-minute break.
After two limps, Grégory Fournier in the small blind raised to 5,700. The big blind asked for 18,800 and made the limpers fold, but Fournier decided to go all-in for 45,000. The big blind called.

Big blind: A♥K♦
There was no sweat for Fournier who flopped a set, then hit a full house on 3♠Q♥4♥3♣4♣ to double up.
The action was picked up on a board of 7♠10♠10♦K♦A♠ with roughly 15,000 in the pot. A player in early position bet 11,000, but Uri Gilboa raised to 25,000 from two seats over.
The early position player went deep into the tank but seemed to have no choice but to call. However despite having K♠9♠ for a flush, she couldn't do much against Gilboa's full house with A♣10♥.

Moments after Hervé Gouzil hero-called with a small-pair, catching Alexane Najchaus bluffing with ace-high on the river, those two players found themselves involded in a pot together again.
On a flop of 2♣9♠4♠, Najchaus bet 1,200 and was called by Gouzil, while the big blind folded. Najchaus fired a second barrel of 5,000 on the J♣ turn. Gouzil went into the tank and check-called again.
The Q♦ river landed on the felt and Najchaus asked for 10,000. Gouzil immediately folded.
In the 886th episode of the PokerNews Podcast, Chad Holloway, Mike Holtz, and Kyna England discuss the Florida man who was arrested for allegedly laundering $800K from illegal poker games. They then share results from Doug Polk's $100K 'Code Doug' Challenge, including a big hand he played against Eric Persson; highlight recent tournament winners such as Shannon Shorr, Francis Anderson, and Missy Bartleme; Jesse Lonis crushing the recently-completed PGT PLO Series; and highlights from Chad's trip to the Eastern Poker Open near Boston.
Plus, get a preview of Alexandra Botez on the Life Outside Poker podcast, Kyna's thoughts on a poker player being on Netflix’s Million Dollar Secret, and remembering Keith Hall & Stan Shrier, who both passed away within the past week.
