Two Players Flop a Set, Lose to Running Hearts

Level 8 : Blinds 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

A player under the gun raised, before Susan Dizon three-bet to 10,000 from middle position . Then it folded to Evan Freeman in the small blind, and he four-bet all in for 18,500. Once the big blind folded, the under the gun player went all in for 26,800, which Dizon quickly called to put both players at risk.

It was three big pairs with Freeman having the best of it with his pocket kings. But after the J♥7♥10♦ he was in third place after both his opponents flopped a set. But the 4♥ on the turn gave Freeman more outs with a flush draw, that came right in on the river when the Q♥ hit, to give him a triple up. The under the player won a small side pot with his flush to stay in the tournament.

A player opened the action was raise to 2,400 from under the gun, and was called by Stepan Shiganyan in the cutoff, as well as the big blind.

All three players checked after the 3♠2♦4♥ flop, and the turn brought the 5♣ the big blind checked to the under the gun player, who bet out 2,500. Shiganyan made the call, and the big blind folded.

The river brought the 9♠ and the under the gun player checked Shiganyan who fired out 3,000, which was enough to get his opponent to muck his and give him the pot.

Derek Gregory was facing an all in bet from the player to his immediate right for 33,300. Gregory debated his decision, but found a call to put his opponent at risk.

Grergory made the right call, but would still have to fade the two over cards, and nut flush draw of his opponent. But the river came the 6♥ and the pocket tens of Gregory were still best, to eliminate his opponent.

A player from under the gun raised to 2,000, before the player in early position three-bet to 6,000. Then Stone Malick in middle position four-bet to 14,000. After it folded back to the original raiser, he five bet-all in for 43,000. That got the early position player to fold, and Malick made the call.

A player limped in from under the gun, before Paul Nguyen raised to 2,500 from middle position. He was called by a player on the button, and after the blinds folded, so did the under the gun player.

Both players checked after the J♠4♦8♦ flop, which brought the 5♠ on the turn. Nguyen then bet out 4,500, which Ohnishi called.

The river was the 5♥ and Nguyen checked to Ohnishi, who bet out 11,000. After giving it some thought Nguyen mucked to give the pot to Ohnishi.

Kwan Makes Two Pair to Knockout Nguyen and Take a Side Pot

Action was picked up on the flop with the board showing 7♦10♥8♠ and roughly 12,000 in the pot. A player in the big blind checked, as did Dylan Nguyen in the hijack. Then 'LA Poker Roundup' podcaster Derek Kwan bet 7,000 on the button. The big blind called, before Dylan Nguyen went all in for 12,700. Kwan and the big blind both made the call.

After the Q♥ on the turn, the big blind check-called a bet of 28,000 for a side pot.

The river brought the 8♦ and the big blind checked to Kwan, who went all in for 17,300. The big blind quickly mucked her hand to give Kwan the side pot.

At showdown for the main pot, Nguyen turned over J♥10♦ for two pair tens and eights, but Kwan had the winner when he tabled Q♠10♣ for two pair, queens and tens to get the knockout and take the sizable pot.
