Gossard Gets His Revenge Versus Frick

Bernard Gossard opened to 1,100 on the button and Wesley Blom called in the small blind. Rudalf Frick jammed the big blind for 10,100 and Gossard sighed "why always me" before he reluctantly called. Blom folded and Frick joked a "good call" as he exposed the Q♠4♣.

Gossard took a few seconds before he grinned and exposed the Q♥Q♣.

"That's not good for you ... I would have called if he didn't," Blom added.

There was no upset on the 6♥4♥3♣10♥5♦ runout and Frick was knocked out.

The Hendon Mob battle between two Germans indeed unfolded as part of a five-way flop of K♥8♥4♣ with 6,000 in the middle. It checked to Jon Persent and he bet 2,000. Hermann Schweiger raised to 5,100 with around 6,000 behind and Toran Tate folded. Florian Bock then check-raised to 15,000 and Persent folded, Schweiger called all-in with the words "no choice".

The four was ahead but the 6♦ turn left Schweiger in desperate shape. Bock locked up the elimination with the Q♥ river for good measure.

On the heads-up turn of 10♣6♠2♥3♠, Maureen Bloechlinger check-raised out of the blinds for half of her stack and then called when Rudolf Frick pushed all-in.

Bloechlinger's 10♦9♠ for top pair were drawing dead as Frick had flopped a set with the 2♠2♦. That made the Q♦ river a formality and the stacks were counted. The 25,500 of Bloechlinger were covered and she headed to the rail.

"Sorry Maureen," Frick said and Bloechlinger smiled "I am not coming back". Her attempt at running up a bigger stack than on Day 1a will thus conclude for the time being.
