Daniel Allen Bags Seven-Figure Stack on Day 1g of $1M GTD Mystery Bounty to Take Overall Lead

Level 15 : 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante
Daniel Allen

The penultimate flight of Event 8: $1,600 Mystery Bounty $1 Million Guaranteed has come to an end after 11 hours of heated action here at The Lodge Poker Club in Round Rock, Texas. Day 1g ended as the biggest flight, having 191 entry slips collected when late registration had commenced, and just 24 found a Day 2 bag.

When the last chance saloon had closed for business it was Daniel Allen sitting on top of the leaderboard with his hefty 1,056,500 stack. It was not until the final four tables that he really started to heat up. His first real hand came with a set of fives versus Jamey Hendrickson who had top two, and he then followed that with a set of kings shortly afterward.

Allen took his newly acquired chips to the final three tables where he continued his heater. Daniel Armstrong called his stack all-in on a paired flop with his pocket aces and Allen tabled ten-five, giving him three nickels. The unlikely quad-making five peeled off on the turn and Armstrong took an exit, making Allen the first player to reach a seven-figure stack in this event.

Brian Lee is next on the leaderboard with 769,500 in chips after what was a relatively easy day for him. Lee seemed to increase his chips during every round, ending the night second overall. Rounding out the top five are Devin Ullman (546,000), David Gonzalez (542,500), and Tim Gray (468,500).

The 24 survivors will combine with the other flights for Day 2 tomorrow May 15, at 2 p.m. to find an Event 6 champion. Everyone on the final day will be guaranteed at least a min-cash and will have bounties in play, having every knockout earn a bounty chip that can be redeemed for a shot at the $100,000 top prize.

Day 2 will have blinds of 2,500/5,000 with a 5,000 big blind ante. The prize pool, payouts, and seating chart will be posted prior to the start of play. Blind levels will increase to 60-minutes in length throughout the final day with a dinner break coming after six levels have been completed. The day will not stop until a winner has been named or a deal has been struck.

Jackson Surging Through Day 1G

Level 11 : 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante
Gloria Jackson
Gloria Jackson

Gloria Jackson was on a steady grind in the upward direction throughout the flight but has caught some major wind under her sails as of late.

On the latest hand, she raised and Jeremy Whalen shoved around 80,000 into the middle. She snapped it off and was in a commanding lead when the cards turned over.

Gloria Jackson: {a-Spades}{a-Diamonds}

The community was filled with {k-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{j-Spades}{5-Clubs}, and Whalen became another victim of Jackson's heater. She now sits on top of the field and is showing no signs of slowing down.

Whittington Bounces Back Through Eyzaguirre

Level 5 : 300/600, 600 ante
Blake Whittington
Blake Whittington

Ricardo Eyzaguirre opened to 1,200 from under the gun, Eric Salazar called on his left, and Blake Whittington put in a call from the cutoff.

The dealer fanned out {9-Spades}{8-Spades}{8-Clubs} on the felt for the three and Eyzaguirre continued with a bet of 1,700. Salazar respectively declined, tossing his cards into the muck, and Whittington opted to call.

A burn and turn brought the {k-Diamonds} with Eyzaguirre quickly putting in 4,500 after the paint fell. Whittington called and a {6-Hearts} completed the board.

Ezyaguirre shifted gears, tapping the table to Whittington who bet 11,000 and Ezyaguirre called. Whittington turned over the goods, tabling {9-Hearts}{9-Diamonds} for a flopped boat and Ezyaguirre mucked his hand.
