Day 1d of Event #6: 1M GTD Mystery Bounty is through for the night after over ten hours of play. This fourth of eight flights attracted 34 entries, which played down to just five players (12%) at the end of the day.

Bagging the chip lead amongst the surviving quintet of players was Gordon Granger who finished with 414,500. He made a late surge to grab a huge chip lead, at one point having as much as four times more than any other player. He dipped slightly in the final couple levels of the night from his high watermark but still had enough to bag a comfortable chip lead.

Second in chips at the day’s conclusion was Venkat “Kaly” Chivukula with 325,000 who gathered a lot in the final few hands as he eliminated two players in eight and seventh in a span of a few hands to help bring the field to the bubble.

Matthew Cosentino finished third in chips with 244,500 and finishing as the short stack was Seth Schueler with 165,500.

Also to bag was Ebony Kenney who had 219,000 at the night’s conclusion. She had an exciting spin up in the last level as she was as low as four big blinds at one point before running it up She also made the correct call for her tournament life on the stone bubble which helped her raise her stack and then she put the finishing touches on the day as she eliminated David Hughes as the bubble boy.

The five players will move on to Day 2, on Sunday. The opening flights are only halfway completed, as there are still four more flights to go to determine who will join this group in advancing.

PokerNews will continue with coverage of Days 1e and 1f tomorrow at 11 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Level 11 : 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante

Action was picked up on the turn as the board read {5-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}. From the button, Gordon Granger bet 20,000. Trey Valkenaar called in the big blind.

The river was the {8-Hearts}. Granger jammed all in, which was a fairly big jam as Valkenaar had about 130,000 left behind. He gave a big sigh and stood up before calling quickly.

Granger showed the {j-Hearts}{10-Clubs} for the top straight. Valkenaar shook his head and flipped over the {q-Spades}{q-Clubs} in frustration as he was busted and Granger took a big chip lead on the rest of the Day 1d field.
