Day 1d of Event #6: 1M GTD Mystery Bounty is through for the night after over ten hours of play. This fourth of eight flights attracted 34 entries, which played down to just five players (12%) at the end of the day.

Bagging the chip lead amongst the surviving quintet of players was Gordon Granger who finished with 414,500. He made a late surge to grab a huge chip lead, at one point having as much as four times more than any other player. He dipped slightly in the final couple levels of the night from his high watermark but still had enough to bag a comfortable chip lead.

Second in chips at the day’s conclusion was Venkat “Kaly” Chivukula with 325,000 who gathered a lot in the final few hands as he eliminated two players in eight and seventh in a span of a few hands to help bring the field to the bubble.

Matthew Cosentino finished third in chips with 244,500 and finishing as the short stack was Seth Schueler with 165,500.

Also to bag was Ebony Kenney who had 219,000 at the night’s conclusion. She had an exciting spin up in the last level as she was as low as four big blinds at one point before running it up She also made the correct call for her tournament life on the stone bubble which helped her raise her stack and then she put the finishing touches on the day as she eliminated David Hughes as the bubble boy.

The five players will move on to Day 2, on Sunday. The opening flights are only halfway completed, as there are still four more flights to go to determine who will join this group in advancing.

PokerNews will continue with coverage of Days 1e and 1f tomorrow at 11 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Hughes Bubbles Day 1d

Level 14 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante

David Hughes moved all in preflop and was called by Ebony Kenney.

Hughes had the {a-Spades}{6-Hearts} and was trailing the {a-Hearts}{j-Hearts} of Kenney.

The flop came pretty good for Hughes {5-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{9-Spades} but he would still need help. The turn was the {8-Clubs} and the river the {3-Spades} to whiff his outs and he became the bubble boy to end the night.

Kenney Withstands Bubble Pressure

Level 13 : 2,500/5,000, 5,000 ante

Four players saw a flop of {6-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{j-Spades}. Action checked around.

The turn was the {3-Clubs}. From the small blind, Ebony Kenney bet 20,000, Venkat Chivukula called from the big blind, while Seth Schueler folded in middle position and Gordon Granger folded the button.

The river came the {9-Hearts}. Kennedy checked. Chivukula dialed up the pressure on the stone bubble as he shoved all in to force Kenney to make a big decision. She played with her chips and looked up at the ceiling before calling after about 20 seconds.

Chivukula tabled the {5-Hearts}{3-Spades} for just a pair of threes while Kenney had that beat with the {q-Spades}{j-Clubs} as she gathered in the big double up.

Chivukula Slays Another

Level 13 : 2,500/5,000, 5,000 ante

A couple of hand slater, Joshua Field moved all in preflop. It folded to Venkat Chivukula who checked his cards several times and took about 15 seconds before he called.

Field confidently tabled the {q-Hearts}{q-Spades} and seemed surprised to see the {a-Hearts}{k-Spades} considering the time it took Chivukula to call.

The flop was a bad one for Field as it came {k-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}, the turn was the {2-Spades} and there would be no river miracle for him this time as the {7-Clubs} rolled off innocuously to end his night and bring the field one away from the money.

Mzareulov Sent Away

Level 13 : 2,500/5,000, 5,000 ante

In a blind on blind preflop all in, David Mzareulov was at risk with the {k-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} vs the {k-Spades}{j-Diamonds} of Venkat Chivukula.

The flop was {3-Spades}{10-Hearts}{j-Spades} to pair the jack. The turn was the {9-Hearts} to give Mzareulov some hope but the river was the {3-Diamonds} to bring the field down to seven.

Field Goes Through Peaks and Valleys

Level 13 : 2,500/5,000, 5,000 ante

Joshua Field was all in with {k-Spades}{k-Diamonds} and dominating the {7-Diamonds}{7-Clubs} of Ebony Kenney.

But the flop came {7-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{10-Spades} to plummet Field from the lead to the valley of despair.

The turn was the {j-Clubs} and the river shot him back up to the zenith as the {k-Hearts} came to dramatically crush the set of sevens of Kenney who was on the wrong end of the emotionally traversing hand.
