Allen Continues Reign of Terror; Hand-for-Hand in Play

Level 14 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante

Daniel Armstrong opened to 13,000 from middle position, Josh Beckenstein called in the hijack and Daniel Allen stuck around as well from the small blind.

The dealer fanned out {9-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{5-Spades} on the flop and the action checked to Armstrong who continued with a bet of 32,000. Beckenstein called and Allen then opted to check-raise, making it 200,000 to go. Armstrong called all in, having less than the raise of Allen and Beckenstein dipped.

Daniel Armstrong: {a-Spades}{a-Hearts}
Daniel Allen: {10-Clubs}{5-Clubs}

Armstrong was in trouble with his aces after seeing the three nickels in Allen's hand. All hope for Armstrong disappeared when the dealer flipped over the {5-Hearts} turn, hitting Allen with quads fives to scoop the pot.

The elimination of Armstrong has now set the field at 25 players, meaning hand-for-hand is now in play as we wait for the Day 2 bubble to pop.

Chocron Stacks Lu to End the Night

Level 15 : 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante

The action picked up on the {k-Spades}{j-Hearts}{7-Hearts} flop when Alberto Chocron threw in a bet and Qing Lu quickly shoved her stack, totaling around 125,000. Chocron instantly called and the room all waited patiently to see the cards. Once hands were completed on the other two tables, Lu stood up and revealed {k-Hearts}{5-Hearts} for top pair with the flush draw.

Chocron peeled over {k-Diamonds}{j-Clubs} for top two and was leading the way. A {4-Diamonds} turn was of no concern for Chocron and the {a-Spades} river sealed it for him. Lu was eliminated as the Day 2 bubble and the rest of the field bagged up for the night.

Daniel Allen Bags Seven-Figure Stack on Day 1g of $1M GTD Mystery Bounty to Take Overall Lead

Level 15 : 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante
Daniel Allen
Daniel Allen

The penultimate flight of Event 8: $1,600 Mystery Bounty $1 Million Guaranteed has come to an end after 11 hours of heated action here at The Lodge Poker Club in Round Rock, Texas. Day 1g ended as the biggest flight, having 191 entry slips collected when late registration had commenced, and just 24 found a Day 2 bag.

When the last chance saloon had closed for business it was Daniel Allen sitting on top of the leaderboard with his hefty 1,056,500 stack. It was not until the final four tables that he really started to heat up. His first real hand came with a set of fives versus Jamey Hendrickson who had top two, and he then followed that with a set of kings shortly afterward.

Allen took his newly acquired chips to the final three tables where he continued his heater. Daniel Armstrong called his stack all-in on a paired flop with his pocket aces and Allen tabled ten-five, giving him three nickels. The unlikely quad-making five peeled off on the turn and Armstrong took an exit, making Allen the first player to reach a seven-figure stack in this event.

Brian Lee is next on the leaderboard with 769,500 in chips after what was a relatively easy day for him. Lee seemed to increase his chips during every round, ending the night second overall. Rounding out the top five are Devin Ullman (546,000), David Gonzalez (542,500), and Tim Gray (468,500).

The 24 survivors will combine with the other flights for Day 2 tomorrow May 15, at 2 p.m. to find an Event 6 champion. Everyone on the final day will be guaranteed at least a min-cash and will have bounties in play, having every knockout earn a bounty chip that can be redeemed for a shot at the $100,000 top prize.

Day 2 will have blinds of 2,500/5,000 with a 5,000 big blind ante. The prize pool, payouts, and seating chart will be posted prior to the start of play. Blind levels will increase to 60-minutes in length throughout the final day with a dinner break coming after six levels have been completed. The day will not stop until a winner has been named or a deal has been struck.

The PokerNews live reporting team will be here throughout the event, so stay tuned as the action unfolds here in the Lodge Championship Series.
