Aces Over Kings For Ioakimides

Level 18 : 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante
Andreas Ioakimides
Andreas Ioakimides

Joe Rogers was getting up from the table as he had been busted by the cruelest preflop cooler. He was holding {k-}{k-} and was vanquished by the {a-Spades}{a-Hearts} of Andreas Ioakimides.

The board had run out {j-Spades}{7-Spades}{5-Spades}{6-Hearts}{q-Clubs}, no help to the kings and just like that Rogers was gone and Ioakimides among the largest stacks.

Flurry of Eliminations Begin

Level 17 : 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante

On Table 34:

Aaron McEvoy moved all in for under 100,000 and Alain Bauer was there to call.

Aaron McEvoy: {a-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}
Alain Bauer: {9-Hearts}{9-Clubs}

The board came down {k-Spades}{10-Spades}{6-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{q-Spades} and Bauer took down the pot, eliminating McEvoy.

On Table 30:

Steven Rivero opened from under the gun and Kenneth Brunette pushed around 130,000. Rivero called, putting Brunette at risk of elimination.

Kenneth Brunette: {a-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}
Steven Rivero: {10-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}

The flop rolled out {k-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{8-Diamonds} which hit both but Rivero spiked a set of dimes. The {9-Clubs}{q-Hearts} runout sealed it for Rivero and Brunette was eliminated shortly after the bubble popped.

Nguyen Pops the Bubble

Level 17 : 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante
Badr Imejjane
Badr Imejjane

The hand-for-hand portion of this event lasted just under an hour until the money was reached. Badr Imejjane moved his 401,000 stack into the middle. Directly on his left was Thong Nguyen who called and every player in the room locked their attention on the bubble showdown.

Badr Imejjane: {k-Spades}{k-Diamonds}
Thong Nguyen: {a-Spades}{a-Diamonds}

An absolute cooler saw Nguyen on top with his bullets and the {8-Hearts}{5-Spades}{2-Hearts} flop brought little excitement for Imejjane. The {2-Clubs} turn and {10-Clubs} river cemented it for Nguyen.

Imejjane was dubbed the bubble boy of the Main Event and the rest of the field has now hit the money.

Rock Waits in Limbo

Level 17 : 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante
John Rock
John Rock

The board was completed to read {k-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{a-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}. From the big blind, Thong Nguyen jammed all in and John Rock thought for a while before the called off his remaining stack.

Since it was the bubble, Rock was forced to wait in limbo to see whether or not his call was correct and if he was going to be the bubble boy or not.

He got up and paced around to shake out the nerves. When all other hands finished, the cards were exposed. Nguyen had the {k-Diamonds}{10-Spades} which Rock was beating with the {5-Diamonds}{5-Hearts} for a set and he gathered in the big pot.

Sarmiento Spikes Jack to Survive on Bubble

Level 17 : 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante
Steven Sarmiento
Steven Sarmiento

Steven Sarmiento moved all in from middle position for 143,000. Alex Keating re-shoved from the button which folded out the blinds.
The players waited for a few minutes until every other hand was completed to table their hands.

Steven Sarmiento: {j-Clubs}{j-Hearts}
Alex Keating: {k-Spades}{k-Diamonds}

Sarmiento had started the day third and chips and was in mortal peril of being the bubble boy. The flop came {2-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{7-Spades} the turn was what Sarmiento was praying to see as the {j-Spades} came off but there was a spade draw now for Keating. The river was the {5-Diamonds} to secure the survival for Sarmiento and keep the bubble in tact.

Ball Extracts Value from Russo

Level 17 : 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante
Collin Ball
Collin Ball

Collin Ball has been a constant throughout the Lodge Championship Series and he is now in position for a deep run here in the Main Event.

Ball started the day with 209,000 and now is creeping in on a million stack after his last hand. The board read {a-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{5-Spades}{8-Clubs}{6-Diamonds} with roughly 300,000 in the pot.

Frank Russo checked, Ball bet 100,000, and Russo then tank-called with {a-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}. Ball turned over {a-Clubs}{5-Hearts} for the best hand to take down yet another pot on Day 2.
