Ballentine Gets it Done on the River

Level 6 : 400/800, 800 ante
Brent Ballentine
Brent Ballentine

On the last hand before the break, three players made it to the flop with a pot of about 9,000 in the middle. The flop was out and read {6-Spades}{6-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}.

Alejandro Madrigal was the initial preflop raiser in early position, he continued on the flop with a bet of 2,500. Both Maxwell Young in the hijack and Brent Ballentine on the button made the call.

The turn was the {k-Diamonds} and action checked to Madrigal who once again bet, now to 5,000. Young folded but Ballentine once again made the call on the button.

The river fell the {7-Spades}. Now heads up, Madrigal bet one final time for 8,000. This time, though, Ballentine wouldn't be calling. He raised to 27,000 and put Madrigal in a tough spot. Eventually, Madrigal let go of his cards and Ballentine scooped the large pot.

Aden Salazar
Aden Salazar

Both Aden Salazar and Noel Rodriguez have accumulated quite a lot of chips in the first several levels. Interestingly, they're also both at the same table.

Rodriguez sits in seat nine while Salazar has position on him for most hands in seat three. We'll see how these two early big stacks fair as the levels continue to go up quickly.

Becker Flops Trips and Gets Paid

Level 6 : 400/800, 800 ante
Jeremy Becker
Jeremy Becker

Jeremy Becker raised to 1,200 in early position and was three-bet by Blake Barousse in late position. All other players got out of the way and Becker made the call to go to a flop.

That flop was {3-Clubs}{4-Spades}{4-Diamonds}. Becker checked it over to his Barousse who obliged with a continuation bet of 3,500. Becker wasn't going anywhere and made the call.

The turn {k-Clubs} froze the action and both players checked the street.

The river was another king, the {k-Diamonds}. Becker now led for 9,500. Barousse thought for about 45 seconds and tossed in the call.

Becker revealed that he flopped trips with the {a-Hearts}{4-Hearts} and finished with a boat that held up for the win.

Another Set Over Set, Franco Benefits

Level 5 : 300/600, 600 ante
Roger Franco
Roger Franco

Four players saw the flop of {6-Spades}{2-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}. In middle position, Roger Franco was the first one to put chips in the pot post-flop when he bet 2,000 into about 4,000. In the cutoff, Tony Tran decided to go with his hand and go all in for about 16,000.

Everyone folded except Franco who made the call and had Tran covered. Tran showed his {2-Spades}{2-Diamonds}. Unfortunately for him, Franco had the {3-Spades}{3-Hearts} for the nightmare set over set.

"Is that a set of threes?" asked Tran surprisingly.

It was, and the board ran out clean for Franco who scooped the pot.

Daniel Marin
Daniel Marin

Three players made it to the river with about 5,000 in the pot. The board read {j-Hearts}{2-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}.

Action checked to Daniel Marin who made a bet of 5,000. The player on the button folded, but Andrew Esposito began to think. He assembled chips and put in the check-raise to 15,000.

Marin thought for a bit before tossing in the call. Esposito's face looked pained and he said, "good call," before showing his {3-Spades}{6-Spades} for the missed gutshot. Marin showed {7-Hearts}{7-Diamonds} for the win.

Action picked up on the turn with Aden Salazar betting 3,500 into a pot of about the same size. The board read {j-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{2-Hearts}. Matthew Boeckman decided to call and take the hand to the river.

That river was the {8-Diamonds} and this time Salazar slowed down and checked. Boeckman went for a bet of 6,500. Salazar thought for a bit and made the call.

Boeckman showed the boat on the river with {8-Spades}{8-Hearts} and took down the pot.
