Calderaro Finds the Goods vs. Afriat

Level 27 : 100,000/200,000, 200,000 ante
James Calderaro
James Calderaro

James Calderaro moved his stick into the middle while on the button, totaling 2,175,000. Eric Afriat instantly called in the big blind and some strong hands were turned over.

James Calderaro: {a-Hearts}{k-Clubs}
Eric Afriat: {a-Diamonds}{q-Spades}

Big slick was sitting pretty for Calderaro and it looked even better after the [jc6c5] flop. A {10-Spades} turn and {a-Spades} river cemented the pot for Calderaro, doubling through the Canadian.

Kristen Foxen Eliminated in 5th Place ($34,834)

Level 26 : 80,000/160,000, 160,000 ante
Kristen Foxen
Kristen Foxen

Kristen Foxen moved the last of her chips into the middle, having a total of 1,370,000. Alexis Meyer took a minute or so to think about his decision but ultimately, he called for a runout.

Kristen Foxen: {a-Clubs}{8-Spades}
Alexis Meyer: {a-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}

Meyer had a firm grasp in the runout and it remained that way after {7-Spades}{5-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} hit the flop. An {a-Hearts} turn left Foxen with one last chance but she missed on the {j-Clubs} river and her tournament was over.

Aden Salazar Eliminated in 6th Place ($26,482)

Level 26 : 80,000/160,000, 160,000 ante
Aden Salazar
Aden Salazar

Aden Salazar defended his big blind from a raise by Alexis Meyer and both checked the {a-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{4-Spades} flop. The {9-Diamonds} turn landed and Salazar moved all in for under a million.

Meyer called, tabling {9-Spades}{8-Spades} and Salazar showed {9-Clubs}{7-Spades}. Both had the same hand but an {a-Diamonds} river counterfeited the board and Meyer's eight-kicker played. Salazar was eliminated in 6th place.

Nathan Hays Eliminated in 7th Place ($26,482)

Level 26 : 80,000/160,000, 160,000 ante
Nathan Hays
Nathan Hays

Nathan Hays went all in preflop with his short stack of 1,415,000, just under ten big blinds.

James Calderaro gave him action from the small blind and all others players folded.

Hays showed his {a-Clubs}{7-Spades} which was slightly ahead of Calderaro's {k-Hearts}{q-Hearts}. The flop changed that.

{10-Hearts}{j-Clubs}{q-Spades} shot Calderaro to the lead. The {5-Hearts} reduced Hays's outs even further and the {6-Spades} sealed the deal.

Evan Burrow

Evan Burrow was on the button and faced a raise of 225,000 by Eric Afriat. Burrow three-bet shoved for 1.2 million and Afriat snapped it off.

Evan Burrow: {a-Spades}{a-Hearts}
Eric Afriat: {7-Spades}{5-Spades}

The flop of {7-Spades}{5-Spades}{3-Spades} gave Afriat top two but Burrow had some outs. Unfortunately the {10-Clubs}{9-Diamonds} runout were none of those and he was sent packing after having his aces cracked by seven-five.

James Calderaro opened to 400,000 and on his left was Thomas McGaffigan who jammed over the top for a total of 765,000. Calderaro snap-called and they turned over their hands.

Thomas McGaffigan: {10-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}
James Calderaro: {a-Spades}{q-Spades}

The flop was {q-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{5-Hearts} and McGaffigan extended the win percentage. Calderaro then smacked an {a-Clubs} on the turn. The {j-Spades} river sealed it for Calderaro, knocking McGaffigan from the table.

Salazar Starts Final Table Hot

Level 26 : 80,000/160,000, 160,000 ante
Aden Salazar
Aden Salazar

Aden Salazar raised to 240,000 in late position and Eric Afriat defended his big blind.

The flop brought the {a-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}. Afriat checked to Salazar who put out a bet of 275,000. Afriat quickly called.

The turn saw the {j-Hearts} fall. Afriat checked again and this time Salazar ramped up the pressure with a bet of 1,200,000. Again, Afriat check-called.

A blossoming pot ended with the {6-Clubs} river. Once more, Afriat checked. After thinking about 45 seconds, Salazar increased the size from his last bet slightly to 1,500,000. Afriat folded rather quickly.

"You got the max," said Afriat as Salazar took down the first hand of the final table.
