It is time for another exciting tournament here in Round Rock at the Lodge Poker Club as Day 1a of Event #9: $750K GTD NLH gets underway. This tournament boasts a guarantee of $750,000 and will be held over six starting flights, the first two of which are being held today at 11 a.m. and 5 p.m, with coverage of Day 1a beginning around 1 p.m.

The $800 entry will garner a 30,000 chip stack. Levels are 30 minutes in length on Day 1 before elongating to 40 minutes on Day 2, which will be held on Wednesday May 18 between all of the surviving Day 1 players from each flight. Late registration is open until the start of Level 9 for each flight.

Each Day 1 flight has the same drill. They will play down until the money which is the final 12% of the field where those players will bag up their chips for Day 2.

Jimmy Lujan raised to 1,000 from the cutoff. John Clancy was on the button and called. Nicholas Getzen was the big blind and three-bet to 4,200. Lujan called and Clancy folded after a bit of thought.

The flop came {q-Spades}{4-Hearts}{7-Clubs}. Action went check-check. The turn was the {5-Clubs} Getzen bet 3,300 and Lujan called.

The river was the {6-Spades}. Both players checked again and Getzen tabled the {a-Spades}{7-Spades} for the pair of sevens which was the winning hand as Lujan showed the {a-Clubs}{k-Clubs}.

Ostapchenko Gets Paid

Action was picked up on the turn with the board reading {8-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{q-Diamonds} and a pot of about 9,000 in the middle. Andrew Ostapchenko and Jesse Cantu both checked to the river which came the {7-Diamonds}.

Ostapchenko made an overbet of 16,000 which Cantu swiftly called. Ostapchenko tabled the {8-Hearts}{5-Hearts} for two pair which was the winner as Cantu mucked.
