Song's Tens are Best Despite 'Terrible Runout'

Level 1 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Ivan Zhang was back up to his old shenanigans and raised blind to 2,000 from under the gun without looking. Action then folded to Stephen Song, who made it 10,000 to go from the small blind. Renji Mao called cold and Zhang folded.

"Uh oh, what have you done!?" Song joked towards Zhang.

"That's what you get for trying to steal!" Zhang replied.

Song and Mao proceeded to check down on the KA9 flop, 5 turn, and J river.

"Terrible runout!" Song said as he turned over 1010.

It was good, however, as Mao sent his hand into the muck to award Song the pot.

First Pot to Gierse

Level 1 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Taylor Black opened to 2,500 and then called a three-bet to 8,000 by Marius Gierse on a five-handed table, which saw them head to a K105 flop. Black check-called for 5,000 and they checked the 4 on the turn. The 8 followed on the river and Black checked again, prompting a bet of 10,000 by Gierse to win the pot uncontested.

Welcome to the 2025 TLPT Jeju Super High Roller Series Event #11 $20,000 NLHE

Final Table
Final Table

The second half of the inaugural standalone The Lord Poker Tournament Jeju festival is underway and a champion has been crowned yesterday in the $15,000 Main Event with Stephen Song roaring to victory at the Jeju Shinhwa World Hotel on Jeju Island. One can certainly expect that Song will try to win even more titles during the remainder of the series and further boost his confidence for the fast approaching World Series of Poker in Las Vegas, and he has several opportunities to do so.

One of them comes in Event #11 TLPT $20,000 8-Handed, which is set to kick off at 3 p.m. local time inside of the Landing Casino and the two-day tournament comes with a guarantee of US$500,000. It is one of several high-stakes contests still scheduled until the end of the series on May 22, 2025, and there will be live stream action every day until a champion is crowned.

This particular event comes with a buy-in of $20,000 and unlimited re-entries for the entire first day, while the late registration will be open at least until the start of Day 2. All players start their journey with 200,000 in chips, which puts them 200 big blinds deep for the first two levels featuring repeat blinds of 500-1,000 and a big blind ante of 1,000.

There will be a break every two levels and a 45-minute dinner break after the end of level four at approximately 6.15 p.m. local time. However, things might shift slightly later if the tournament doesn't kick off on time. The PokerNews reporting team will be on the floor from the first card dealt so stay tuned for more of the exciting live poker action from South Korea.
