Schneider Doubles Through Lawrence

Level 13 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante
Mike "Schneids" Schneider's TT held versus AK.
Mike "Schneids" Schneider's TT held versus AK.

We arrived at Table 3 just in time to see the cards turned over before the flop in an all-in pot between two notable players.

Mike Schneider: {10-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}
Jim Lawrence: {a-Hearts}{k-Clubs}

The two were racing, and the {7-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} was more than safe for Schneider, as it improved him to a flush draw with a pair. A {2-Spades} gave Lawrence a draw of his own, but the {j-Clubs} was a blank on the river.

Sandness Calls Two Bullets

Level 12 : 800/1,600, 200 ante
Mark Sandness made the right read.
Mark Sandness made the right read.

Mark Sandness opened for 3,400 in middle position and called a three-bet of about 7,500 from the cutoff. After a {9-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{7-Diamonds} flop, Sandness check-called 8,000. A {j-Spades} hit the turn, and Sandness checked again. The cutoff bet 14,000, and Sandness took his time before calling. Both players quickly checked the {2-Spades} river.

"I have a pair," Sandness said.

"Pair's good," his opponent said regretfully.

Sandness tabled {k-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds} for bottom pair, but it was indeed good against {q-Spades}{10-Diamonds}.

Players are on a 10-minute break, and so are we.

Lawrence Stacking Again

Level 12 : 800/1,600, 200 ante
Jim Lawrence
Jim Lawrence

Jim Lawrence opened for a raise under the gun and got three-bet to about 12,000 by a player in middle position. Lawrence made the call after action was back to him, and the flop came {a-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{7-Clubs}. Lawrence checked and his opponent moved all in. Lawrence immediately dropped a stack of chips into the middle.

Lawrence: {a-Spades}{k-Hearts}
Opponent: {8-}{8-}

Lawrence faded the two-outer when paint arrived on fourth and fifth. He rolled up one of the top stacks in the early going yesterday but ended up busting; we'll see if he has more staying power this time.

Dunbar Snaps One Off

Level 12 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

After a {5-Clubs}{8-Spades}{10-Spades} flopped in a three-bet pot, a player who opened under the gun and then called a reraise open-shipped all in and was snap-called by Mark Dunbar in middle position.

Dunbar: {k-Clubs}{10-Clubs}
Under the gun: {7-Hearts}{5-Hearts}

Dunbar was well in front with top pair, and his opponent got no help on the {a-Diamonds} turn or {j-Clubs} river.

Harris' Three-Barrel Misses

Level 11 : 600/1,200, 200 ante
Lance Harris couldn't get his opponent to fold.
Lance Harris couldn't get his opponent to fold.

Ken Pates checked from early position to Lance Harris, who bet 3,700 on an {a-Hearts}{k-Hearts}{9-Clubs} flop. Pates made the call, and he check-called another 8,100 on the {2-Diamonds} turn. A {4-Clubs} hit the river, and Pates checked a final time. Harris loaded and fired again, this time 13,500. Pates thought for a bit before calling, and Harris showed {7-Spades}{6-Spades} for seven-high. Pates has {a-Spades}{8-Diamonds} for top pair.

Payne Done

Level 11 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

Ken Payne, who finished in fifth place for $18,787 at Mid-States Poker Tour Meskwaki earlier this month, just busted out when his {7-Spades}{7-Clubs} was outrun by the {a-}{j-} of an opponent who made aces full.

Johnson Doubles Through Saad El-Dein

Level 11 : 600/1,200, 200 ante
Sami Saad El-Dein made a bad read.
Sami Saad El-Dein made a bad read.

We found Sami Saad El-Dein with a bet of 4,000 in front of him on a board of {5-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{8-Clubs}. One player had called, while Rodger Johnson had shoved all in for 20,800 in the big blind. Saad El-Dein decided to call after some thought, and the third player folded.

Saad El-Dein: {10-Hearts}{10-Spades}
Johnson: {5-Clubs}{5-Hearts}

"Is that a set of fives?" Saad El-Dein asked, squinting across the table. "Wow."

He chuckled about his misread as he bricked the {2-Spades} river.
