Frei Cooks Up Another Big Hand

Level 5 : 150/300, 25 ante

A player in early position bet 5,000 on a board of {6-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}{a-Hearts}{3-Hearts}, and Aaron Frei made it 12,000 to go on the button. The player thought about a minute and called, and Frei showed him {k-Clubs}{k-Spades} for a boat.

Monroe Has the Cooler

Rich Monroe
Rich Monroe

In a single-raised preflop pot, action folded to the preflop raiser in middle position, who bet 1,025 on the {9-Diamonds}{a-Spades}{a-Hearts}. Rich Monroe raised to 3,000 from the big blind, knocking out the third player, and the preflop aggressor came back with 7,025. Monroe responded by putting him all in for about 40,000, and the player went into the tank.

"I know you've got about five bullets on you," he said. "Why am I not good enough to lay this down? I think you're full."

After another minute or two, he announced a call, saying "king me" as he showed {a-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}.

His read was on, as Monroe tabled {9-Clubs}{9-Spades}, and the board finished out with two bricks to send the pot to Monroe.

Mike Ross opened for 1,100, and Ben Keeline shoved all in for 6,375. Matt Grisham called in the big blind, while Ross laid down.

Grisham: {8-Diamonds}{8-Spades}
Keeline; {a-Spades}{10-Hearts}

The race went to Grisham as the board ran out {9-Clubs}{9-Spades}{6-Hearts}{j-Clubs}{4-Hearts}.

Le Peau's Overbet Pays Off

Level 7 : 250/500, 50 ante

We found Steve Le Peau all in for 12,350 into a pot that looked to be about half of that size after a flop of {q-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}. A slew of folds followed, but the last player who had checked in front of Le Peau made the call.

Le Peau: {4-Hearts}{4-Clubs}
Opponent: {a-Diamonds}{j-Spades}

Le Peau needed to dodge running straight cards and diamonds, and he did so as the {j-Hearts} and {k-Hearts} completed the board.

Herstein's Boat Bounces One

Level 7 : 250/500, 50 ante

Rich Monroe made it 1,200 to go from early position and got three-bet to about 3,000 by Lenny Herstein. A player in the cutoff called, and Monroe dumped his cards. On the {q-Diamonds}{a-Hearts}{6-Diamonds} flop, Herstein bet 7,000 and called the shove of his opponent, who had about 13,000.

Herstein: {q-Clubs}{q-Spades}
Cutoff: {a-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}

Both had flopped huge, but Herstein took a commanding lead on the {6-Hearts} turn, leaving his opponent with two outs to a better full house. The {j-Spades} river was a brick.
