Lisa Schoonmaker opened for 575 under the gun and got two callers before Matt Alexander popped it to 2,200 on the button. Schoonmaker came back with an immediate reraise to 4,575, and Alexander called. Both players checked the flop, and the board read on the turn. Schoonmaker checked again, and Alexander put out 5,000. Schoonmaker said she was all in, and Alexander instantly flicked the dealer his cards.
Two of the most successful players on the Mid-States Poker Tour this year, Matt Kirby and Kou Vang, just took seats in the tournament. Both failed in bids to advance from Day 1a.
