Anderson and Namazi Face To Face

Level 10 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

For the last few hours, Steve Anderson and Abbas Namazi have jockeyed back and forth for the chip lead. When Namazi's table broke he landed right across from Anderson. The two players have just under 400,000 between them.

Jason Smith is also sitting at the table with 97,000. The remaining players at this table include: Jose Serratos, with over $500,000 in career earnings and three MSPT cashes, Mark Hodge, who has 11 MSPT cashes for a total of over $87,000, and Tim Ebenhoeh, who finished third in this event in 2013.

"Are all the chip leaders at this table?" asks Mike Ermie shortly before playing a hand with Steve Anderson. Ermie raised preflop to 2,400 and Anderson three bet to 6,000, Ermie called. The flop came {9-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{7-Spades} and Ermie checked to Anderson who bet 4,500, Ermie called. The turn was the {8-Diamonds} and both players checked. The river was the {10-Hearts} and Ermie decided to lead out for 13,500. Anderson thought about it for a little bit, but decided to call and showed {k-Clubs}{j-Spades} for a jack-high straight. Ermie showed {9-Clubs}{9-Clubs} for a set of nines.

Anderson Back on Top

Level 9 : 400/800, 100 ante

After a bet and a call on the flop Steve Anderson was heads up to the river. The board read {2-Diamonds}{a-Hearts}{q-Spades}{9-Hearts} and Anderson bet 5,000. His opponent went all in for her remaining 37,800, which sent Anderson to the tank. Anderson talked to her trying to get any tell or clue to help inform his decision. He ended up tanking for at least two minutes before deciding to call. He showed {a-Clubs}{2-Clubs} for two pair and his opponent turned over {7-}{7-}. The river was the {4-Clubs} and didn't change things. Anderson won the hand and added to his already health stack. With that pot he reclaimed the chip lead.

Abbas Greatest Hits

Level 9 : 400/800, 100 ante

Abbas Namazi was heads up and looking at a board of {k-Spades}{10-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}. There was roughly 15,000 in the pot. Namazi bet 11,000.

"How do you turn over that card," said his opponent to the dealer, "If I go all in do you fold there?" he asks Namazi, referring to the turn action.

"Show me a king," his opponent says sarcastically as he calls.

Namazi doesn't have a king, in fact he has {q-Diamonds}{j-Clubs} for a straight.

It seems unlikely he would have folded had there been an all in on the turn.

Gerasimovich's Eights Hold Up

Level 8 : 300/600, 75 ante

Bryan Gerasimovich raised preflop in early position and got one caller before another player shoved all in for 6,775. The action folded back to Gerasimovich and he shoved all in, prompting the remaining player to fold. Gerasimovich took back the rest of his 22,000 chips and was heads up against the all in player. Gerasimovich had {8-Clubs}{8-Hearts} and his hand held on a board of {4-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}{10-Hearts}, eliminating his opponent.
