Munjal Has a Big Stack and a Cool Hat

Level 2 : 75/150, 0 ante

Sean Munjal is sporting a white beanie made to look like the helmet of a storm trooper, it is one of the more unique hats in the field today. He also has doubled his stack already.

Munjal said he had {a-}{q-} on the button and the player in the cutoff limped. Munjal raised and the cutoff called. The flop came {q-}{5-}{6-} and the cutoff checked to Munjal who bet 700, the cutoff called. The turn was {a-}, giving Munjal two pair. This time the cutoff led out for 1,200 and Munjal raised to 3,700. The cutoff called again and the two players saw another {q-} fall on the river. The cutoff checked and Munjal bet 4,000. The cutoff check-raised all in and Munjal called.

Munjal had queens full of aces with his {a-}{q-} and his opponent showed queens full also, but it was queens full of fives with {q-}{5-}.

MSPT Pro Nick Pupillo in in the field to start the day. He has failed to qualify in the previous two flights and today will try and join fellow MSPT Pro Jason Zarlenga in Day 2.

Pupillo has six top ten finishes in previous MSPT events, and $121,964 of his $613,081 lifetime tournament cash total is from MSPT cashes.

Pupillo is currently third in MSPT Player of the Year points, and winning this event would put him well in the lead with a little less than two months to go. In fact, getting 27th place in this tournament would be enough to Pupillo to take the lead.

The MSPT Player of the Year is awarded at the end of the calendar year. Former MSPT Players of the Year Patrick Steele and Mike Deis have already made it to Day 2.
